This week, EMS training featured a guest lecture from Mark Yoder of Viola Startzman Clinic.

The topic, Bridging the Gap with Mental Health Patients, provided valuable insight into improving communication, understanding, and patient care during mental health related emergencies.

We appreciate Mark taking the time to share his knowledge and helping our providers continue to grow in serving our community with compassion and professionalism.

💚 Grateful for our community leadership and partner agencies! A huge thank you to the Holmes County Commissioners for meeting with us today and officially proclaiming May as Mental Health Awareness Month! 💚

Our Executive Director was honored to attend alongside Executive Director Anazao Community Partners and the Executive Director of Startzman Clinic. Though we weren't able to have our entire network of incredible partner agencies join us in person today, please know that every single one of you was absolutely represented in spirit!

Holmes County is remarkably well-served by this dedicated network. Together, fueled by state, federal, and vital local funding, we are able to bring a wide array of essential mental health and recovery services right here to our community.

Today, we’re shining a light on a partner whose work strengthens the wellbeing of our entire community: Viola Startzman Clinic.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re especially grateful for the ways VSC expands access to compassionate, affordable mental‑health care. Their team shows up for people who might otherwise go without support, offering counseling, behavioral‑health services, and a safe place to begin healing.

For our guests at Homeward Bound, that kind of care can be life‑changing. When someone is navigating trauma, stress, or the weight of uncertainty, having a trusted provider to turn to makes all the difference. VSC helps ensure that mental‑health support isn’t out of reach for the very people who need it most.

I did not know him for long before it felt like we were old friends. Mark is very family-oriented, which is outstanding for someone so driven by business and passionate about his career.
