On average, 297 people landed in Wayne County's emergency health department from November - January, because of mental health emergencies.

As temperatures drop and daylight fades, the risk of crisis rises, especially in rural Ohio, where isolation can feel heavier and support harder to reach. If someone in your life seems “off” (even if they’re still showing up and getting things done), don’t wait for things to get worse.

Home for the Holidays: A Real Recovery Win ❤️🏠

This is "The Good Stuff." As we head into the holiday season, we want to share a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

A resident at OneEighty, Inc. Recovery Housing recently achieved what seemed impossible not long ago. Through sheer hard work and determination, she didn’t just find recovery, she rebuilt her life. She secured a job, earned her license, bought a car, and moved into her own independent housing.

But the biggest gift of all? She regained custody of her daughter. This Christmas, she won't just be celebrating; she will be celebrating in her own home with her child.

We are incredibly proud to fund partners like OneEighty who walk alongside neighbors on their journey to wellness. To the residents of Wayne and Holmes Counties: Your support and levy dollars help make reunions like this possible.

Let’s be honest, the holidays aren’t always merry and bright. 🎄Between turkeys, travel, and tangled lights, sometimes it’s more “silent scream” than “silent night.” 😅

Kids feel that stress too. They pick up on the hustle, the changes, the sugar rush. So this season, let’s give them (and ourselves) a little more calm and connection.

Our therapists are here to help kids (and parents) keep their cool from Thanksgiving through Christmas, and beyond. Spoiler: It doesn’t require matching pajamas or a perfect tree. 😉

As a youth-serving organization, we see every week how access barriers impact adolescents’ mental health. ORC 5122.04 is a small but essential protection that allows a young person to receive short-term support when parental consent is unavailable or unsafe.

HB 172 would remove this access point entirely.

Our team is monitoring the bill closely because of its direct implications for the youth we serve across Wayne and Holmes Counties. I encourage anyone who works with or cares about young people to review NASW’s alert and contact your legislators to oppose HB 172. Your voice matters in safeguarding timely, life-stabilizing mental-health access for vulnerable adolescents.
