“Started from the mop, now we're here"

Before Healthcare, Courtney spent her days doing the kind of work most people don't think twice about - Cleaning bathrooms and taking on the dirty jobs that keep places running behind the scenes.

Healthcare had always been in the back o f her mind. Growing up, Courtney heard stories from her mother and grandmother, who both worked in the field, about how meaningful it can be to care for others.

Courtney first joined Avenue at Wooster as a Resident Assistant, starting without any certifications but with a willingness to learn and help wherever she could. Through her own determination and support from the facility, she went on to earn her STNA License and has now been caring for residents as an STNA for the past couple of years.

From starting with a mop to becoming part of our nursing team, Courtney's journey is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful careers begin in unexpected places.

Some people move into a community.

Others become part of what makes it special.
Melanie has made it her mission to help the people around her. From sewing and crocheting items for fellow residents to running a small free shop where resident can pick out gifts for their families, she spends her time finding ways to brighten someone else's day.

For her, living here isn't just about receiving care - it's about continuing to give back. She shared something beautiful with us talking about her outlook on life:
"People ask me how I can be so happy, laughing and smiling. I'm never sad about my handicap. My cup is half full... I'm blessed to still be here."

Her kindness, positivity, and willingness to help others remind us that purpose doesn't disappear with age - sometimes, it simply changes shape. And our community is better because of people like her.

Employee Spotlight: Bayleigh⭐️

From working as an aide to becoming a nurse - Bayleigh is a perfect example o f dedication,
compassion, and growth.

Bayleigh began her career in healthcare as an CNA, where she quickly discovered her passion for caring for others. With a strong desire to keep learning and growing, she continued her education and graduated nursing school in May 2025, becoming an LPN.

Today, Bayleigh is continuing to push herself even further and is currently back in school pursing her RN - all while working and picking up extra shifts to help support her team and the residents she cares for every day.

Our Director of Nursing Jen describes Bayleigh best:
"Her compassion for residents, eagerness to learn, and determination to grow make her an incredible part of our team."

At Avenue at Wooster, it's caregivers like Bayleigh who make our community so special - building real relationships with resident and providing care that truly comes from the heart💙
