It’s the holiday season, a time filled with joy, celebration, and moments with the people we love. But for many, the holidays can also add another layer of pressure and stress, accelerating the path toward burnout.
Burnout isn’t something that happens overnight; it’s a slow drift away from balance that shows up in the brain long before we feel it in our lives.
Read about how burnout shows up in the brain in our latest blog!

Sometimes what looks like resilience — calm under pressure, emotional control, or being “unbothered” — is actually the freeze response in disguise.
When the brain experiences too much stress for too long, it can’t fight or flee anymore. Instead, it shifts into freeze mode, a state of shutdown and disconnection that protects you from feeling overwhelmed.
From the outside, it can look like:
“They’re so composed in crisis.”
“She never loses her cool.”
“He just keeps going no matter what.”
But on the inside, the nervous system is stuck in survival mode, numbing emotions, disconnecting from the body, and conserving energy.
This isn’t true resilience; it’s the absence of safety.
Real resilience comes when the brain and body can move through stress and return to balance.

Worldwide, up to half of the people who have Celiac disease don’t know they have it. Celiac’s is an autoimmune condition caused by an immune response to gluten proteins. This causes damage to the intestines. The villi in the gut that absorb nutrients can deteriorate, leading to a variety of symptoms. Over time, Celiac disease can lead to osteoporosis and anemia, in part due to malabsorption. If you or your family have any of the following symptoms: diarrhea or constipation, bloating, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, failure to thrive, etc., talk to your doctor today. This is especially important if the symptoms have been going on for a while. Celiac disease is typically diagnosed via a blood test and an intestinal biopsy. Luckily, if you or someone you know suffers from Celiac’s disease, following a strict gluten-free diet will help

It’s estimated that over 20% of Americans suffer from arthritis. This generally includes severe joint pain, and nearly half of all affected adults are dealing with pain all day, every day. There are more than 100 different types of arthritis identified, but the two most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The cause of arthritis varies; common ones include injuries, age, being overweight, too much stress from a variety of causes, metabolic disease. Luckily, this pain can be supported naturally. Here are a few options:

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) - May reduce joint tenderness and decrease aspirin use. Great as a tea.
Turmeric/Curcumin - May reduce pain and encourage weight loss
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) - May protect joints and reduce pain, stiffness, and disability
Thunder God Vine (Tripterygium wilfordii) - May lower inflammation and improve joint function
Always consult your doctor before trying new herbs, especially if you are taking any other supplements or medications.

Research has found that eating locally may reduce your chance of developing chronic health concerns such as obesity and diabetes. These foods tend to be more nutrient-dense as they are also fresher. Eating locally tends to result in eating fewer overall calories and consuming more fruits and vegetables. Just having a positive attitude towards locally grown foods of added sugars, and sugary beverages in young folks

“Summer is a period of luxurious growth. To be in harmony with the atmosphere of summer, awaken early in the morning and reach out to the sun for nourishment to flourish as the gardens do. Work, play, travel, be joyful, and grow into selfless service. The bounty of the outside world enters and enlivens us.” -Paul Pitchford
