Congratulations to UMass Memorial Health's Dr. Kavita Babu, recently named Emergency Medicine Physician of the Year by the Massachusetts College of Emergency Physicians!

Honored for her innovative, community-based approach to emergency care, Dr. Babu has redefined the role of emergency physicians, particularly in serving vulnerable populations. She leads efforts in opioid safety, overdose prevention, and mobile addiction care through programs like Road to Care and the Worcester medical respite. This award, presented at MACEP’s Annual Meeting on May 7, recognizes her outstanding contributions to emergency medicine in Massachusetts.
