A huge thank you to Girl Scout Troop 65342 from Sturbridge, MA, for their generous donations to our new moms and babies! 🌟 The girls were excited to bring their gifts and had the special opportunity to meet one of our patients and her newborn son, Sam, delivering a gift to him in person. 🎁

The girls said that they were excited to collect donations for the babies, but even more excited to hand deliver a gift to one of our families. The troop also met with the incredible nurses in our Center for Women and Infants and enjoyed the festive decorations in the atrium.

We are so grateful for these young girls and their kindness. Thank you, Troop 65342, for making a difference in the lives of our families and spreading joy this holiday season! 💜

Strong partnerships between hospitals and educational institutions play a crucial role in supporting the development of local nursing professionals and ensuring the next generation of caregivers is ready to meet the needs of our community. Our leadership team recently met with Worcester State University administration and the five nursing students who received this year's hospital-funded scholarships.🩺👩‍⚕️

By supporting Worcester State University's highly respected nursing program, we are helping to shape the future of healthcare in our region and ensure our community receives the best care possible.💜

🚑A Life-Saving Reunion at Saint Vincent Hospital ❤️

Today, we had the privilege of witnessing an incredibly special moment. Charles Kingsbury, a Paxton senior citizen, reunited with the EMTs and doctors who saved his life after he suffered a stroke at the Hanover Theater in October.

While enjoying a performance with his family, Chuck started showing signs of a stroke—slurred speech and confusion. Thankfully, an EMT was stationed at the theater, and Dr. Anthony Izzo, a neurologist at Saint Vincent Hospital, was also in the audience. Dr. Izzo immediately recognized the signs of a basilar artery stroke, and within minutes, Chuck was on his way to Saint Vincent Hospital where the emergency department was ready to provide life-saving treatment.

Chuck, who was 89 at the time of the stroke, expressed his deep gratitude, saying:
"All this happened when I was 89 and I wanted to reach 90. I would think about it, and if I can only make it a few more days, I’ll be 90. And here I am. Thank you."

Thanks to their swift and coordinated response, Chuck made a full recovery, and today, we were able to honor the EMT's and doctors for their life-saving work:

EMT Paramedics Maya Raghavan and Jonathan Franklin of Worcester EMS

EMT Myles Hebert of Coastal Medical Transportation Services

Dr. Anthony Izzo and Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. Thomas Rheaume

This is a powerful reminder of the importance of teamwork, preparation, and quick action in emergency situations. We are so proud of our first responders and medical professionals for the difference they make every single day! 👏
