This summer, I made a promise to myself to start showing up for me. It wasn’t about a “transformation” or some huge goal - it was just about feeling better, having more energy, and taking care of my body so I can keep doing all the things I love.
I started really simple: walking outside. At first, it was just to clear my head, but over time, it became my favorite part of the day. It’s like a reset button for my stress and my mood. (If you know me, you know where you can usually find me walking 🪦)
From there, I slowly added more:
-More walking: I gave myself a minimum goal of 10k steps a day
-Pilates 3-4 times a week for strength, balance, and core work (and honestly, it’s so good for my posture and back).
-Golf 1-2 times a week because it gets me outside, moving, and having fun.
-Strength training: just 4-5 basic, targeted exercises a few times a week.
-And keeping my heart healthy with Zone 2 cardio.
The crazy thing is, it all started to add up. My step count literally doubled in two months, from around 4,500 steps a day to over 10,000!
I’m not perfect, and I’m definitely still learning what works best for me. Some days are easier than others. But the difference in how I feel…my energy, my mood, my focus, has been incredible.
If you’ve been wanting to make a change, my advice is: start small. Go for a walk. Pick one thing you can stick with. You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight, just take the first step. I pieced together something slowly that worked for ME, doing the things that I actually enjoy.
Here’s to all of us doing a little better, one day at a time. ❤️💪🏼
