Honoring and Supporting Our Veterans

This week, Casa Rehab, Saint Francis Rehab, and Saint Francis Adult Day Health proudly donated coats to Veterans Inc. as part of our ongoing commitment to those who have served our country.

Beyond this donation, our centers are privileged to hold Veterans contracts, providing post-acute rehabilitation and nursing care tailored to the unique needs of Veterans. At Saint Francis Adult Day Health, we also support Veterans in the community by offering clinical oversight, social engagement, and a safe, welcoming environment.
Caring for our Veterans is an honor—both inside our programs and through initiatives like this coat drive.

We’re proud to celebrate Alejandro “Alex,” Life Enrichment Assistant, as our September Employee of the Month! Alex joined Saint Francis in December 2024 and has quickly become a staple on our Veterans Unit. His kindness, positivity, and dedication bring joy to residents every day.

One moment that truly highlights Alex’s compassion was during a recent chapel service, when he supported a resident who wished to read aloud. Alex knelt beside them, quietly guiding without ever taking away their voice.

We are so blessed to have Alex on our team—congratulations, Alex, and thank you for all that you do!

Sound Bowl Meditation at Saint Francis Rehab

Residents enjoyed a calming and restorative session led by Echo Solstice, featuring the soothing vibrations of sound bowl meditation. The experience brought relaxation, peace, and a sense of balance to everyone who participated.

Meet Elaine!

A retired school teacher who once inspired children to read, Elaine now finds joy, friendship, and strength at Saint Francis Adult Day Health.

Through our therapy program, she has gone from struggling with her walker to proudly walking 700 feet and standing for over four minutes without rest! 💪

She loves bingo, baking club, karaoke, and says, “If I could come five days a week, I would!”

A Special Visitor at ADH!

Meet Hagrid, the Irish Wolfhound service dog who has quickly stolen the hearts of our participants! Hagrid, along with his wonderful handler, Gina from Animal Assisted Therapies of MA, began visiting us earlier this month and will now join us biweekly.

The joy, comfort, and companionship he brings are truly incredible—our participants absolutely light up when he enters the room. We’re so grateful for this new addition to our ADH family and look forward to many more visits with Hagrid!

Happy Rehab Week!

Last week, we’re celebrated the incredible occupational, physical, and speech therapists who make such a difference in the lives of our patients every single day.

Our rehab team is not only highly skilled but also kind, patient, and deeply committed to helping each person reach their goals. Whether it’s supporting someone in taking their first steps, regaining independence in daily routines, or encouraging progress in therapy, they bring energy, heart, and encouragement into every session.

They don’t just lift up our patients—they lift up each other too, creating a positive and uplifting environment throughout the building. Lunch and gifts were just a small way to say thank you, but words can’t fully capture how grateful we are for their dedication and compassion.

Breathing Life Into Art at Saint Francis Rehab!

One of our pulmonary patients recently tapped into their creative side with a fall-themed painting session. What made it extra special? They incorporated BreatheWell breathing techniques while painting—turning each brushstroke into both art and therapy.

This is what BreatheWell is all about: blending innovative pulmonary care with complementary activities that strengthen lungs, restore confidence, and bring joy to everyday moments.

Music, Movement & Joy at Saint Francis ADH!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Bonny from Orchidsong Sound Healing for a special Drum Circle! Participants and staff joined together, using a variety of instruments to create music, sing, and connect—all while supporting circulation and wellness in the body.

The energy in the room was contagious, and our participants had such a wonderful time. We can’t wait to have Bonny back again!

Our residents were treated to an afternoon of wonder and amazement with a special magic show right here at Saint Francis! From jaw-dropping tricks to plenty of laughter, the performance brought joy, smiles, and a sense of awe to everyone in the room.

Everyone morning my housekeeper Felicia came in with a smile and talked to me. Nicole one of my c n a’s treated me so wonderfully! She went above and beyond for me even if I wasn’t on her assignment. People would come down from other floors and they were always smiling and happy! I spent a lot of time in the O2 lounge doing my excercises. It’s a very peaceful and beautiful place. The therapy OH! Football Season Kickoff!

Yesterday, we celebrated the return of football season in the best way possible—with pretzels, popcorn, and plenty of team spirit! A huge thank-you to Nicole and the Philly Pretzel Factory, a brand-new local business in our community, for donating fresh pretzels and toppings for our hardworking staff.

The smell of fresh popcorn lured the team in… but they left with so much more—smiles, laughter, and a true kickoff to the season!

About Saint Francis

Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a 137 bed Skilled Nursing Facility located in the Grafton Hill area of Worcester. Our campus consists of 63 long-term care beds, including a 16 bed men’s only unit. The center has only private, semi-private and grand semi-private rooms. We have five nursing units, 53 private rooms, two (2) small neighborhood Alzheimer’s Units totaling 37 secure beds, 35 Sub-Acute and a separate Adult Day Health program that can provide services for up to 60 participants per day. The skilled nursing facility has a beautiful Chapel and celebrates Mass six days a week.

The History of Saint Francis

The sacred history of the Little Franciscans of Mary had its beginnings in 1889. It is here that the foundresses, those 11 courageous women with generous hearts placed the ‘cornerstone’ of the congregation. Saint Francis maintains many of the traditions of the Little Sisters, with a focus on reverence and respect for life.
