On Friday, March 20, graduating medical students at UMass Chan and nationwide will simultaneously open envelopes to discover where they will serve their residencies. Fourth-year medical student Nick Kamkari is one of eight T.H. Chan School of Medicine students to have matched early.

Kamkari, who was born in Germany and spent his childhood in Toronto before moving to the Boston area, spent a research year at Massachusetts General Hospital studying DNA mismatch repair and prostate cancer in patients with Lynch syndrome. He matched in urology at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey.

"What excites me most about urology is that it combines technically demanding surgery with opportunities to build long-term relationships with patients while advancing research that can meaningfully improve cancer care," Kamkari said.
