Kate McCann, LMHC Licensed MH counselor treating anxiety, life, relationship stressors with CBT & holistic skills. Let’s get to work!

I accept new private pay clients as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield (including HMO Blue); Optum (Harvard Pilgrim, United Behavioral Health, United Health Care) and Tufts (excluding Network Health and/or Tufts public plans including Tufts Health Direct, Together or the Unity/Medicare/Medicaid because I am not a MassHealth provider) insurance plans for appointments between 9:30 and 4:30 Monday throug

h Thursday. Please call 774-502-0576 or email kate@puresolutions.biz to discuss scheduling an intake. Are you looking for change but don’t know where to start or how to get there? We can define and prioritize your short and long term goals, and then develop steps to accomplish them. We will identify and build on your own strengths and experiences, while utilizing a combination of both traditional cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), assertive communication skills, and holistic wellness approaches (mindfulness, yoga) in order to address anxiety, trauma, depression, stress management, time management, and relationship issues. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a well-established evidence-based therapeutic approach that identifies unhelpful thoughts and beliefs in order to create more positive and manageable self-talk. This is tremendously helpful in addressing anxious “If that happens, I won’t be able to handle it” thoughts. We will complement those important shifts in thinking with holistic approaches: developing a regular mindful breathing practice can reduce your physiological stress response, yoga practice can shift your physical energy and help connect your mind and body in a more relaxed and purposeful way, energy freedom technique (EFT) utilizes the centuries-old practice of acupressure in order to separate built-up emotional responses from triggers; building healthy exercise, sleep, and nutrition habits can help reduce the severity of mental health symptoms as well as contribute to physical health; getting organized can help you put it all together in order to reach your goals! I have over 10 years of experience working with a wide range of clients, and enjoy seeing clients get healthy and have success addressing their anxiety and communication issues. I look forward to working with you to help you meet your goals!

Journaling is so helpful that I made up a tag line: journal it to learn it! Writing in a journal can help you process events and feelings, set goals and make plans, and it's really great at helping you remember things: The relative slowness of the medium forces you to process the information, writin...

This very funny post serves as a brilliant example of different ways gaslighting shows up by denying your reality or your feelings (check out the whole post for more examples and comments) . But the humor does not take away from the fact that gaslighting is a debilitating experience to live in. A fa...

Wonderful check-in at the New York Times to "help you take stock of your emotional well-being — and learn how to make changes." How to get through the post-election holidays:

Three pieces of advice as we roll into this post-election Thanksgiving:1) if you are being bullied by a family member about election results, say to them very calmly, If the situation was reversed, I would never treat you this way because I love and care about you.2) for family members that you want...

Self-help groups are one of the most effective ways to help yourself with an issue because of great ideas from folks who have been there. They also provide the very important comfort of being in the company of people who understand you. Memoirs are a quiet form of this, so thank you to the the Times...

How to form a habit:

Building a habit takes reps: you've got the old neural pathways which hold the automated old habit (this is what makes it so easy to get to the grocery store, you barely have to think about it because you have laid down the track of that repeated route in your brain cells), which you need to overrid...

Simple: check out Mindful.org's weekly 12-Minute Meditation podcast. These are terrific meditations, with a wide range of teachers and topics. How to make it a practice?
