A preview of the newly renovated Schmaedeke Funeral Home, we couldn’t be happier with the end result. What began with a ruptured water pipe that caused plenty of damage to the facility has ended with an expanded renovation of the entire facility. Over the course of nearly eight months, we removed, repaired, expanded and enhanced the facility to bring it back to the level of your expectations and beyond.
We are so pleased with the level of comfort that the renovation has brought to the facility; both of the Chapels/Gathering Spaces have seen their share of upgrades, from new carpeting throughout the facility to new wallpaper, draperies, furniture, enhanced lighting and sound systems. The addition of three fireplaces has brought a very cozy enhancement to the facility. You will find more comfortable places to spend time with family and friends while still being engaged in the Celebration of Life here at Schmaedeke Funeral Home. From the more quiet Library to the lower level expanded family lounge with fireside seating, granite counter tops, a spacious island for food and beverages, stainless steel refrigerators and ample pub tables and seating this is truly a facility that understands your needs.

The materials and color palette have successfully helped to create a sense of calm and comfort during one of life’s most difficult moments affording you and your guests the opportunity to gather and focus on what is most important, Celebrating a Life Lived. The incorporation of the amenities you expect in your own home and more are all here for you and your guests to experience. By placing certain objects and furnishings in the environment helps to make it less of a distraction and more of a conversation, appreciating what is here to further compliment the highest service standards you will find is what makes the time you spend here memorable for all the right reasons.

It has been a challenging eight months bringing the facility back to our level of expectation for those we are privileged to serve. The day to day operations although significantly affected by the repairs and renovations have made us appreciate even more what it is we have to offer families in need, it may just be only a building and we operate under the premise that material possessions can always be replaced yet with that said we are so pleased we were able to bring the facility back to this level for you and generations to come.

Recently we've experienced a number of inquiries about the different types of services we offer, more specifically about Cremation. We thought we would share some of them with you and we will try to do it periodically as they come up.

Do you offer Cremation?

We do!

What are my options if I chose to be Cremated?

The best way to begin to understand your options is to think of Cremation and Burial as being the last part of the funeral service.

There is a percentage of people who believe that if they chose to be Cremated that they forego some of the traditional aspects they may have grown up experiencing like a visitation for family and friends to come together or a church service and even a committal service at your family cemetery. This couldn't be farther from the truth! You can do all of that and more and still have Cremation as your preferred choice.
Some people will have the Cremation take place first, then have a Memorial Gathering at the Funeral Home at a later date and yet others prefer to have just the Cremation without any type of services. Regardless of what you chose, there is no right or wrong way, the most important thing to remember is we are able to offer you options and honor your wishes.
