🕰️ History came to life in our community today! 🕰️

In honor of National Cherish an Antique Day, we hosted a very special "Antique Show & Tell!" It was a wonderful afternoon spent traveling back in time through the treasured items and stories of our residents.

We had some truly fascinating pieces on display:

Lloyd shared his Revere Model 85 (8mm Silent) Film Projector. A top-seller in the post-war 1940s, Lloyd bought this piece brand new and used it to capture and watch decades of precious home movies! 🎥

MK brought a stunning cranberry glass butter dish. This heirloom was a wedding gift to her grandmother all the way back in 1895! We loved learning about its vibrant Victorian-era history.

Dixie showcased a beautiful antique inkwell that belonged to her grandmother, reminding us of the days of quill and nib pens. She also shared an additional piece of history: a vintage glass Coke bottle from a bottling plant in Ponca City, OK! ✒️

There is so much wisdom and history held within these objects, and we loved hearing the personal stories that make them so significant. It’s the people and their amazing journeys that make The Bristol such a rich community!

🐣It was a lovely Good Friday in our community! We hosted a special pop-up café today, serving delicious Hot Cross Buns from Resch's Bakery — a perfect seasonal treat.

Afterward, residents got creative making Bunny Wreaths, adding a festive and cheerful touch to the day. It was a wonderful way to come together, enjoy a sweet treat, and celebrate Good Friday.

Yesterday, our community's schedule for the day included a lunch outing at a rest stop on I-71, a special Hot Cross Buns kazoo performance, and Brown E's for dessert... It didn't take long for everyone to figure out it was April Fools Day! Residents actually enjoyed lunch at Fado Pub and Kitchen, a performance by Heartstrings Ukulele Group and delicious brownies for dessert.

🖍️ In honor of National Crayon Day, our residents got creative making beautiful crayon sun catchers using crayon shavings and wax paper. The finished pieces turned out bright, cheerful, and perfect for welcoming a little extra sunshine into our community. ☀️

Our Crafting Connections group got creative with a hands-on project—making gel air fresheners! 🌿

Using gelatin, essential oils, lavender, Epsom salts, food coloring, and dried flowers, residents created beautiful, personalized scents to enjoy in their apartments. Since burning candles isn’t permitted at The Bristol, this was a fun and thoughtful alternative to bring a little extra freshness and comfort to their spaces.

Yesterday, two of our incredible veteran residents, Tony and Marie, participated in Honor Flight Mission 149—traveling to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor, including the WWII Memorial. 🇺🇸

Honor Flight Columbus, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring America’s senior veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C. at no cost to visit their service memorials, share their stories, and receive the recognition they so deeply deserve.

Tony, a Vietnam Navy Veteran who served during the Bay of Pigs/Cuba conflict, and Marie, age 100, a WWII nurse, experienced a truly meaningful day surrounded by gratitude and celebration. One of the most touching moments was honoring Marie with a flag—a powerful reminder of why Honor Flight began in the first place: to honor our heroes.

We are beyond proud to call them part of The Bristol family and grateful for the legacy they represent. ❤️

Creativity was in full color at last weekend’s Crafting Connections! 🎨

Residents designed their own tote bags using Sharpie Alcohol Art—a fun and unique technique that transforms simple drawings into vibrant, tie-dye-inspired designs. After sketching patterns with Sharpie markers, a few drops of rubbing alcohol are added, causing the ink to spread, blend, and “bloom” into beautiful, watercolor-like effects. No two creations are ever the same!

The result? Stunning, one-of-a-kind tote bags and a wonderful afternoon filled with creativity, conversation, and connection.
