Happy Mindful Monday!ββββββββ

I came across a post today where a person shared a painful experience from their past that -according to them- affected their entire career. They missed answering some questions on an exam and they have been carrying the weight of that failure ever since.ββββββββ

This made me stop and reflect on so many opportunities I had lost in the past. Then I questioned myself, can certainly hurtful, yet not traumatic (in my own opinion) past events dictate our future? I quickly realized that my opinion about how traumatic the event is, does not matter! What matters is how did the other person feel about it!ββββββββ

Our circumstances and abilities to withstand different stressors are different! In addition, potential impact of systemic inequalities and other external factors -certainly not known to me- on a person's ability to cope with past events also vary. So, instead of brushing off someone's hurt feelings, I need to understand them and further empower them!ββββββββ

The main point is, Do we question our thoughts? our feelings? and their effect on our view of life?ββββββββ

For me, this is what it means to be Mindful! Be present in the moment, to "think" about your thoughts and redirect them towards the right path if able.ββββββββ

I would love to hear your opinion, if you would like to share! ββββββββ

Have a great week ahead filled with Empathy and kindness!ββββββββ
