A health scare landed me in the hospital and for the first time in my life I was forced to slow down and reflect on how stress had bought me a hospital gown. I noticed that my nursing friends were just like me, working long hours, going to school, and taking care of their families without taking the time to rest and restore themselves. Also during this time I was able to notiice the lack of suppo

rt and comraderie that existed with other groups who were able to network for higher positions, giving each other tips on how to succeed in school etc. There wasn't an organized vehicle to network for jobs, education, and support. That’s how this organization was formed as a vehicle to promote self-care for the Caregiver, as a Support and Networking vehicle, as well as a mechanism that will support encouraging minorities to go into Nursing! The formation of THE NATIONAL BLACK NURSES NETWORK is a mission as much as it is a ministry that will educate and encourage us to take time out for ourselves for the things that we find enjoyable, all while networking and empowering each other to excel in nursing. Let's inspire and uplift each other to excel in a way that benefits us and OUR community!!
