After last monthโ€™s "April Showers," we just had to bloom into "May Flowers" for our latest monthly watercolor class! ๐ŸŒธ

We stayed busy bouncing between two fun projects while letting our paint dry. First, everyone painted a pretty springtime tulip postcard. Then, we moved on to a bright & beautiful still-life scene of fresh flowers. Each artist had a real vase at their workstation for inspiration, and they even got to take the bouquet home as a gift! Everyone did an absolutely amazing job!

We are celebrating five amazing team members who have work anniversaries this month! ๐ŸŽ‰
Please join us in thanking them for their commitment to our residents:

๐Ÿ’š Natya (RA, 1 Year) โ€“ Natya already graduated from Minnesota West and will graduate from Worthington High School in less than two weeks! This fall, she is attending Buena Vista University to pursue her nursing degree.

๐Ÿ’š Ashley (RA, 1 Year) โ€“ Ashley is also graduating from WHS this month! Fun fact: Her favorite color is pink.

๐Ÿ’š Brandon (RN, 3 Years) โ€“ Brandon is currently enjoying his first year of fatherhood with his beautiful baby boy, David. When he isn't at work, he lives to fish!

๐Ÿ’š Maria (RA, 1 Year) โ€“ Maria loves working here because she enjoys helping others and plans to pursue a career in nursing. Fun fact: Her sister, Paty, works in our dining department. Even though Maria is two years older, people mistake them for twins all the time!

๐Ÿ’š Xavier (RA, 2 Years) โ€“ Xavier isn't pictured because he is at home caring for an ailing loved one - a true testament to the compassion that makes him such a valuable team member. His hobbies include running and listening to music.

Let's hear it for Natya, Ashley, Brandon, Maria, and Xavier! Happy work anniversary! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ‘

Our May Community Coffee speaker was Nobles County Library Director Beth Sorenson. Beth updated us on all of the great things happening at our local library including:

THE REMODEL: Along with the improved aesthetics, the library added a new charging station, expanded the circulation desk, redesigned the kids' room, and much more.

PROGRAMMING: The library offers impressive programming for all ages. Programs for children include story time, Kids Club, Wii Gaming, and their big children's summer reading program, to name a few. For adults, the library hosts author visits, book club, arts & crafts, and more.

SERVICES: The library offers access to free movies and audiobooks, delivery service between a network of 26 libraries via their van that they so cleverly named Vincent, short for Vincent Van-Go, access to computers, cameras, and other equipment, as well as faxing, copying, printing, and scanning service.

Our library is a gem filled with so many offerings. If you haven't been there recently, stop by to check out their new look and all the great resources available to you there. Thank you, Beth, for the great presentation!

We are so excited to welcome our newest residents, Chuck and Jackie Moore, to the Ecumen Meadows community!

Married in 1961, Chuck and Jackie are gearing up to celebrate an incredible milestone anniversary this coming August. When it comes to family, the Moores are truly blessed. They have a son, Paul, and a daughter, Pamela, who both grew up to become Presbyterian Pastors. Paul serves his congregation in Blaine, while Pamela serves in Windom. Pamela's husband, Scott, is also a Presbyterian Pastor, serving communities in Round Lake, Brewster, and Worthington. The family blessings continue with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren!

Both Chuck and Jackie spent their careers shaping young minds. Jackie taught Kindergarten and second grade in Adrian and Paulina, Iowa, before spending twenty dedicated years as a Special Education teacher at Worthington's Central Elementary School. Chuck taught English in Paulina, Iowa, for three years before spending thirty-five wonderful years teaching at the college in Worthington.

Retirement hasn't slowed them down, as the Moores love to travel and have stamped their passports in fifteen different countries. As a British Literature teacher, Chuck's favorite destination was naturally England. Jackie has a hard time picking just one favorite because every trip was so amazing, but she said that Norway was one of the most stunningly beautiful places they ever visited.

One of the most fun chapters of their lives was spent on the dance floor. Chuck and Jackie were active members of the Turkey Trotter Square Dance Club for a whopping forty-two years! For ten of those years, Chuck was on the microphone as a square dance caller and singer. After collecting vintage square dance records, Chuck even attended a National Caller workshop to perfect his singing calls, and the couple went on to give square dance lessons together. One of their favorite memories was teaching square dancing to third and fourth graders at Prairie Elementary. Jackie laughed remembering how cute the kids were, pulling their shirt sleeves over their hands to avoid catching "boy germs" or "girl germs" while spinning their partners!

We are so incredibly lucky to have this vibrant, sweet, and talented couple join our community. Give them a big, warm welcome next time you see them down the hall! Welcome home, Chuck and Jackie!

The weather was beautiful exactly 60 years ago todayโ€”a perfect, sunny day for a wedding! On this day in 1966, Don & Jeanne said "I do" during an intimate family ceremony in Sioux Falls. Six decades later, their love story has grown into a beautiful, growing family with 4 wonderful children, 7 amazing grandchildren, and 4 precious great-grandchildren.

Today, the celebrations are already in full swing! By noon, Don and Jeanne were feeling the love with two gorgeous flower and plant deliveries. They also received this incredible commemorative blanket sent with love from their son, Tim, all the way from California!

Looking closely at the blanket, it beautifully sums up their lifetime together, wrapping them in 720 months of hugs, 3,130 weeks of laughter, 21,915 days together, and over 525,000 hours of love!

Please join us in sending the biggest congratulations to Don & Jeanne on 60 incredible years of marriage! Drop your well-wishes in the comments below to celebrate this amazing milestone with them!

Our wonderful residents traded the dining room for the sunshine today. We spent this gorgeous May afternoon doing lunch the right way: outside, soaking up the rays, and enjoying great conversations over a delicious meal!

05/10/2026

We celebrated Mother's Day and all the incredible women of Ecumen Meadows with a fun photo shoot and a delicious salad luncheon!

We want to say a special thanks to our outstanding dining team who outdid themselves making eight different salads to serve along with cake, ice cream, and refreshments and also to the wonderful daughters, sisters, and friends who volunteered to help es**rt and serve our residents. The room was filled with love and joy! Happy Mother's Day!
