We are so excited to welcome our newest residents, Chuck and Jackie Moore, to the Ecumen Meadows community!
Married in 1961, Chuck and Jackie are gearing up to celebrate an incredible milestone anniversary this coming August. When it comes to family, the Moores are truly blessed. They have a son, Paul, and a daughter, Pamela, who both grew up to become Presbyterian Pastors. Paul serves his congregation in Blaine, while Pamela serves in Windom. Pamela's husband, Scott, is also a Presbyterian Pastor, serving communities in Round Lake, Brewster, and Worthington. The family blessings continue with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren!
Both Chuck and Jackie spent their careers shaping young minds. Jackie taught Kindergarten and second grade in Adrian and Paulina, Iowa, before spending twenty dedicated years as a Special Education teacher at Worthington's Central Elementary School. Chuck taught English in Paulina, Iowa, for three years before spending thirty-five wonderful years teaching at the college in Worthington.
Retirement hasn't slowed them down, as the Moores love to travel and have stamped their passports in fifteen different countries. As a British Literature teacher, Chuck's favorite destination was naturally England. Jackie has a hard time picking just one favorite because every trip was so amazing, but she said that Norway was one of the most stunningly beautiful places they ever visited.
One of the most fun chapters of their lives was spent on the dance floor. Chuck and Jackie were active members of the Turkey Trotter Square Dance Club for a whopping forty-two years! For ten of those years, Chuck was on the microphone as a square dance caller and singer. After collecting vintage square dance records, Chuck even attended a National Caller workshop to perfect his singing calls, and the couple went on to give square dance lessons together. One of their favorite memories was teaching square dancing to third and fourth graders at Prairie Elementary. Jackie laughed remembering how cute the kids were, pulling their shirt sleeves over their hands to avoid catching "boy germs" or "girl germs" while spinning their partners!
We are so incredibly lucky to have this vibrant, sweet, and talented couple join our community. Give them a big, warm welcome next time you see them down the hall! Welcome home, Chuck and Jackie!
