Care Tip Tuesday 📖

As always, every tip comes straight from our care team, sharing the best advice they've learned from years of hands-on experience.

Today's Topic: Daily Movement 🚶‍♀️

This week's care tip from our care team:

"Encourage daily movement. Help your loved one take brief walks, do chair exercises, or stretch each day. Consistent movement can reduce the risk of functional decline."

Even small amounts of movement each day can make a big difference in maintaining strength, independence, and overall well-being. 💙

🌟 New Google Review! 🌟

Thank you to our wonderful caregiver, Miatta, for providing Chuck's family with such amazing care. It means so much to us to be part of your family’s journey, Chuck.

"We have nothing but glowing things to say about Assisting Hands and their staff! We have used them in the past, when my 88 year old mom with dementia has come to visit. The care that is provided and compassion that is shown is not common with other agencies.

In our most recent experience, my mother came to visit for the month of April. We had Assisting Hands help during weekday work hours. The care provider, Miatta, was exceptional. Mom had a fall in late 2025 and was confined to a wheelchair. We needed to provide extensive rehabilitation work to get her ambulatory again. Miatta was incredibly diligent following the care plan, and also encouraging and supportive. My mom loved working with Miatta and they have built a friendship over their time together. She wasn't just doing a job. Miatta invested in helping my mother improve.

Mom went back home able to stand, walk, and do basic life activates again. Something that would not be possible except for the incredible care she received."

🌷Parkinson's Care Tip 3 of 4🌷

April is Parkinson's awareness month, so we're dedicating every Tuesday in April to tips for those caring for loved ones with Parkinson's:

"Parkinson’s meds don’t just “work or not”, they create windows where your loved one can move, think, and function better. Families who do well at home tend to plan around those windows (for example: scheduling showers, walks, or outings during “on” times). If you ignore that rhythm, everyday tasks become unnecessarily frustrating."

🌷Parkinson's Care Tip 2 of 4🌷

Did you know that balance exercises are one of the most important parts of caring for someone with Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s affects the body’s ability to react quickly and stay steady, which can increase the risk of falls. Practicing simple balance activities like standing on one foot (with support), walking heel-to-toe, or side stepping can help retrain the body and improve stability over time.

Better balance means:
✔️ Fewer falls and injuries
✔️ Improved walking and safer turns
✔️ Stronger posture and core support
✔️ More confidence and independence

Even just a few minutes a day can make a meaningful difference. Always make sure exercises are done near a sturdy surface for safety.

Supporting balance isn’t just about movement, it’s about helping your loved one stay safe, confident, and independent. 💚
