For those interested in learning refexology, I put together a list of items that prospective students can inquire about to gain a better understanding of the program in an effort to meet the national standards.

- Educator should be nationally certified through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB). ARCB is the national standard and they test across the United States.

- Class has a minimum of 110 in class hours which is the minimum requirement to sit for national exam. Total hours of 200 which will allow the certificant to be a professional member of the national and the state association.

- Check state statutes. For example, in Ohio any school that is teaching a subject where the certificant will charge for there services must be registered with the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools.

- Ask for references and names of certificants of the school to allow for a personal conversation and gain information about the program and educator.

- Inquire as to the maximum number of students in a class at one time. At the Reflexology Certification Institute the maximum number of students is six (6). The low number of students allows for more individual attention and support.

- Inquire as to the teaching techniques used in the program.

I offer prospective students the opportunity to come in and see the school and to receive a reflexology session (based on what's been learned) under my supervision.

The Reflexology Certification Institute (RCI) has the most comprehensive programs with 284 hours which includes 131 in class hours. The program is designed to prepare students to pass the RCI exam, as well as, the national exam through the American Reflexology Certification Board.

This term, we just completed our third weekend and the students are so amazed at how profound reflexology is and that it can impact body, mind, spirit. Their volunteers/future clients are also amazed at the effectiveness of reflexology.

The techniques taught are intended to share specific reflex points, techniques to minimize pain, and facilitate the body's physiological response. Additionally, learning how to listen to what the body is sharing.

What a great weekend and so looking forward to weekend 4 to share more information and protocol with the future reflexologists!

As an educator and reflexologist, I'm an advocate for reflexologist to become nationally certified through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB).

ARCB is coming to Cincinnati, Ohio on April 29, 2023.

I'm offering to host/facilitate an ARCB Study Group via Zoom that would meet every Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm EST for approximately one hour. The study group is open to all certified reflexologists (not limited to Ohio). The first meeting will be March 7th at 7:30 pm ET.

This will be an interactive study group and participants may be asked to lead one of the evenings.

Fees are donation based, however, there will be a nominal fee for all participants.
