The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are currently investigating a shooting that occurred near Louisville, Georgia on Friday night, March 13th, 2026. Apparently there were a group of individuals fighting when gunfire erupted. Three people were shot. One of the victims was pronounced dead after being driven to Jefferson Hospital. The name of the deceased man is Eli Harmon Jr., 51 years of age from Louisville. The other two victims were treated and released from Jefferson Hospital. Harmon's body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab and an autopsy was conducted today (Monday).
It is unclear who was involved in the fight and who the shooter(s) were at this time. Anyone with information concerning this event is encouraged to come forward. You may contact the JCSO at 478-625-7538 or the GBI at 706-595-2575.
