🐍 HUNTERS BEWARE! 🦌

Deer hunters near the Meeks Community came across something unexpected while planting food plots — a nine-foot boa constrictor!

The snake was humanely dispatched on scene and is believed to have been an escaped or released exotic pet. While boas are not native to Georgia, they can still pose a danger to small animals — and give quite a scare to anyone crossing paths with them in the woods.

⚠️ If you encounter a large or unusual snake, do not attempt to capture or kill it yourself. Contact the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office or Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for assistance.

Stay alert out there, hunters — you never know what’s lurking beyond the treeline!

As the school year begins across Georgia, the Department of Public Safety urges all drivers to remain alert and cautious in school zones and around school buses. The safety of our children depends on everyone doing their part.

🚨Key Reminders:

🛑Stop for School Buses: Georgia law requires all traffic to stop for a school bus that is loading or unloading children. The only exception is when vehicles are traveling in the opposite direction on a divided highway separated by a median.

❗Obey All Traffic Laws in School Zones: Slow down, eliminate distractions, and watch for crossing guards and children entering or exiting vehicles.

🚌Do Not Pass a Stopped School Bus: Illegally passing a stopped school bus can result in fines, points on your license, and more importantly, it puts children’s lives at risk.

Stay Alert Near Bus Stops: Children may be walking or riding bikes in neighborhoods and may unexpectedly cross the roadway.

Allow Extra Time: Traffic may be slower during school pick-up and drop-off hours. Plan ahead and be patient.

Remind Children of Pedestrian Safety: Teach children to wait for the bus to stop completely before approaching, to look both ways when crossing the street, and to always stay in the bus driver’s line of sight.

Ensuring safe travel to and from school is a shared responsibility. Let’s work together to keep Georgia’s students safe.

Many have asked how and where they can help us at the campground…here’s your chance!
Campground Work day next Saturday, for all who would like to come help!
We plan to begin repairing and preparing the benches in the tabernacle for painting, painting a portion of one of the cabins that was damaged in the hurricane as well as a few other odd and end jobs.

We could use a couple of pressure washers and someone with a tractor and rake to rake up storm debris.
Thanks!

✅ If you're unsure, hang up and call the hospital back using the official number from their website.
✅ Real medical providers won’t pressure you for payment or personal details out of the blue.
