Christine Laplante, LMHC

Christine Laplante, LMHC Provides individual, relationship and group counseling. Accepts some insurances. Has sliding scale

My passion is working with people to help them remember who they are, providing a safe place to explore their inner workings and ultimately, to guide them to tools that will aid them in being the best person they want to be. Pulling from both professional and life experience, I admire the bravery and courage it takes to seek guidance for clarity. My experience includes working in a therapeutic capacity with individuals, persons in relationships, and families with varying mental health diagnoses. I have provided therapeutic interventions in a mobile and clinic setting for over five years. For over 20 years, I have presented s*x education and relationship workshops to various organizations and groups including major corporations, colleges, and s*xuality education events. My trainings include Emergence Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed and Brief-Solution Oriented Interventions. I have also been trained in S*x and Relationship Therapy practices. Though my scope of practice is broad, my areas of expertise include interpersonal relationships, "non-traditional" relationships, groups, gender questions and "alternative" lifestyles. Pairing my professional experience in a traditional clinic setting, workshop experiences, knowledge of s*xual maturity and relationships, and evidence based therapeutic practices, I have a wide array of skills to offer.

Please remember that Seasonal Affective Disorder does not just happen in the colder/darker months. It can also happen as Spring awakens us. Shedding light can be just as heavy as the blanket of darkness.

Here is your periodic PSA about therapy.

Therapy is not a magic wand.

There are different approaches and theoretical practice.

It’s a collaborative process.

While a good therapist can help someone resistant to “open up,” it works more efficiently if you approach the experience knowing it takes time.

At best…It’s not quick fix, it’s a progressive and layered unwinding and unraveling to uncover underlying foundational source fractures, to teach applications to address those fractures and rebuild in a stronger way that allows,
Ultimately, for sturdier expansion.

That’s the dream, anyway.

If you ARE looking for something shorter term, then it’s beneficial to pinpoint the issue you are seeking to address and find a brief-solution oriented therapist. That approach still requires you to know yourself.

Tiktok is sending me this book to read and review (they send me a lot of things). I am very much looking forward to it.

Our brains can tell us all sorts of stories. I’ve learned to trust my body way more than what goes on in my head. Which is why I tend to ask a lot of clarifying questions and not assume what others are experiencing. Curiosity vs assumption is a way of life for me.

I have learned that on occasion my stomach will turn so much that I know it’s time to walk away from a situation. No amount of “self-talk” is going to get me there. No amount of understanding and attempt at empathy is going to salvage it. I don’t even need to know why it’s happening anymore. I just need to know that it is. And that’s my cue.

I remember, a few times in life, when I had to leave a job and I would curl up on my chair before I would leave talking myself into it. My stomach would be in knots. I’d berate myself because man… it was just work. There was so much I liked about it. Yada yada.

When I finally let go… my body sighed and thanked me.

So I’m curious about their take on how we tell ourselves stories and how that stands in the way of our happiness. (The premise).

Good morning everyone, I am about to offer a six week telehealth series. It’s been a little while since I have and I am gauging interest.

Sessions are 6 weeks, one hour a week, $200-250 for the series.

Topics/focus are being developed but these are some ideas right now:

Relaxation and meditation- 6 weeks of a guided experience with discussion

Sound healing - specific to the needs of the group. Part experiential, part discussion

Become Integrated focused- s*xual health and development, exploring current beliefs and expanding s*xual self

A dive into the divine- experiencing and exploring aging mysteries (discusing what is really happening during mid-life transition)

I am also open to other suggestions

So I did a thing the last couple of weeks as I needed some creative outlet. I finally sat down and finished the companion journal to Sacred, Not Secret: An Integrated Approach to S*xual (R)Evolution

It is live today!

Like the book it doesn’t need to be done in order. Nor do you have to have read Sacred, Not Secret. This journal is guided and asks more questions to contemplate about your s*xual health journey and how your story was created and continues to be.
