Bridging care, cultures, and compassion

Most families don’t realize it until they’re already overwhelmed.

The appointments.
The stress.
The quiet moments where everything feels like too much.

Hospice isn’t about the end.
It’s about how you’re supported through it.

And for many…
that support comes later than it should.

You don’t have to go through it alone.

Most families don’t realize it until they’re in the middle of it.

The constant hospital visits.
The exhaustion.
The feeling of trying to hold everything together all at once.

And somewhere in that…
they wish they had more time, more support, more guidance.

Hospice isn’t about giving up.
It’s about making sure no one walks through those moments alone.

Support looks different when it comes at the right time.

Some moments stay with you forever.

Two men.
Different paths.
One shared connection through respect, service, and the love of the game.

From stories of the past to moments in the present… this is what connection looks like.

Grateful to witness it.

Some visits turn into moments you never forget.

When our volunteer coordinator went to visit one of our patients, Mr. Arturo Miro, he had the chance to spend time with Major Bob Tillman as well. Major Tillman is a Vietnam veteran who now spends his time giving back and connecting with others.

What started as a simple visit turned into something special.

Mr. Miro and Major Tillman shared a moment holding a pitching plaque, a Detroit Tigers jersey, and even a bat connected to Hank Aaron’s legendary 715th home run. The plaque and jersey were gifts to Mr. Miro from Major Tillman, which made it even more meaningful.

For anyone who loves the game, it truly felt like baseball heaven. But more than the memorabilia, it was the stories, the laughter, and the connection between them that stood out.

These are the moments that matter.

Not everything meaningful has to be loud.

Sometimes it looks like sitting with someone a little longer.
Checking in when you think about them.
Or simply being present when it matters most.

Those quiet moments? They stay with people.

Just a reminder that what we do for each other, big or small, truly makes a difference.

There’s something a lot of families don’t realize until they’re in the moment… you don’t have to go through it alone.

Hospice care isn’t about giving up. It’s about making sure your loved one is comfortable, supported, and surrounded with dignity every step of the way.

Some things hospice care can help with:
• Managing pain and symptoms at home
• Emotional and spiritual support for both patients and families
• Guidance through difficult decisions
• Support that continues even after loss

Having the right team in place can make one of the hardest seasons feel a little more peaceful.

If you’ve ever had experience with hospice care, what helped your family the most?

There’s something powerful about showing up for the community in real, tangible ways.

Riverview Hospice Care was honored to be part of the 4th Annual Community Health Fair hosted by the Southfield Kappa Foundation and Detroit Community Health Connection. Events like this create space for education, connection, and support, bringing vital resources directly to the people who need them most.

Cedric Robinson was on-site representing Riverview, connecting with attendees, sharing information, and continuing the mission of compassionate, patient centered care.

This is what it’s about, being present, being accessible, and being a trusted resource for families during some of life’s most important moments.

Proud to stand alongside organizations committed to strengthening the health and wellness of the Metro Detroit community.

There are moments that remind us how powerful history, service, and community truly are.

Being present at a Tuskegee Airmen meeting was an honor. Standing alongside individuals who represent such courage, resilience, and legacy is something that carries deep meaning. These are living pieces of history, and their stories deserve to be heard, remembered, and respected.

It was also a beautiful reminder of the importance of connection, bringing generations together, sharing experiences, and continuing to uplift one another.

At Riverview Hospice Care, that same respect for legacy, dignity, and life stories is at the heart of everything we do. Every life has a story, and every story deserves to be honored.

Grateful for moments like this.

There’s something powerful about being in a room full of people who genuinely care about the community.

Being part of the Black Family Wellness Expo with The Links, Incorporated Detroit Chapter was a meaningful experience. Events like this bring real resources, education, and support directly to families and seniors. That’s what matters most.

Moments like this are a reminder of why compassionate, community based care is so important. Mary Reed, CEO of Riverview Hospice Care, leads with purpose, making sure families are met with dignity, support, and real connection when they need it most.

Grateful to stand alongside so many amazing women doing meaningful work and continuing to pour into our communities.

At Riverview Hospice Care, we provide every family with a token of love.

The Wings of Life are given as a symbol of remembrance, compassion, and continued support. They serve as a gentle reminder that love endures, legacies live on, and no one walks through grief alone.

These wings represent peace, strength, and the lasting memories carried forward in honor of your loved one.

If you or a loved one need support, Riverview Hospice Care is here.
