Due to increasing volumes of sick patients from COVID and other viruses causing respiratory and gastrointestinal illness, we are experiencing extremely high volume on our phones and in clinic. We ask for your patience during these unprecedented times. You may experience longer than normal wait times.

Despite the decrease in staff working in clinic due to COVID illness and exposures, our physicians and staff are doing our best to continue to provide the level of care that our patients and their families expect. However, we do need to prioritize and triage our sicker patients. We also need to ensure the wellness and safety of physicians and staff who are working very hard despite being short staffed with increased patient care needs. There will be times that we will refer patients to urgent care or emergency rooms due to limited resources from the currently ongoing impact of the COVID Delta Variant.

Please do not call for results if it has been less than one week since the labs were collected and do not leave multiple messages. We will respond as soon as we can. We appreciate every single one of you who understands and helps us accommodate care for those in need and we will continue to strive to address all concerns.

4/25/20: UPDATED PROCEDURES FOR CLINIC:

SCREENING QUESTIONS:
• Have you, the patient, or any household family member been experiencing fever, cough or breathing issues?
• Have you, the patient, or any household family member had any confirmed exposure to Coronavirus in the last 3 weeks?

Should you arrive at the clinic and answer “yes” to any of the questions, you and everyone accompanying the patient will be expected to wear a mask and immediately be taken to an exam room for further evaluation or, if it is a well-visit, you may be asked to reschedule.

SCREENING TEMPERATURES FOR ALL
If the patient or anyone that accompanies a child to a well – visit has a fever, your appointment will be cancelled and you will need to call back to reschedule. For other appointments, anyone over age 2 with fever will be required to wear a mask to remain in clinic.

MASK USE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED (AND REQUIRED FOR THOSE WITH COUGH AND / OR FEVER)
We recommend that parents and children (who are over the age of 2 and reasonably able to) wear a mask in clinic at all times.

3/25/20: As a valued patient of our clinic, we appreciate the trust you place in us and want to inform you about how we are addressing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
We are closely monitoring events in our local community and continuously updating our policies and protocols as a result of new information.

Please know that our office is following all recommended guidance from public health authorities, including best practices for hygiene, infection control ,and medical professional team health. We feel confident in our ability to continue seeing patients and providing primary care according to the Tradition of Quality Care that you have come to expect and deserve.

Our highest priority is to keep all of our patients and staff as safe and healthy as possible.

Therefore, using CDC guidelines, we are taking patients’ and family members’/guardians’ temperatures upon arrival and asking these screening questions prior to allowing them to proceed to the check-in area. Notably, all patients need to consider these questions prior to being placed in an exam room:

• Have you, the patient, or any household family member been experiencing fever, cough or breathing issues?
• Have you, the patient, or any household family member had any close contact with anyone who has traveled in the last 3 weeks?
• Have you, the patient, or any household family member had any confirmed exposure to Coronavirus in the last 3 weeks?

Should you arrive at the clinic and answer “yes” to any of the questions, you and everyone accompanying the patient will be expected to put on a mask and immediately be taken to an exam room for further evaluation.

Everyone that enters our clinic will have their temperature taken. If any child or anyone that accompanies a child to a well – visit in the mornings has an illness or has a fever, your appointment will be cancelled, you will be advised to leave, and you will need to call back to reschedule your child’s appointment.

If anyone that accompanies a patient to an afternoon non-well check up visit has an illness or fever, that person will be asked to leave. If it is the parent or guardian of the patient, your appointment will be cancelled, you will be advised to leave ,and to call back to reschedule when an adult with a parent/guardian’s written consent can accompany the patient or the parent or guardian is no longer ill.

We now offer telemedicine as an option for some types of illnesses and medical concerns. Check-ups cannot be done via telemedicine. Contact our office for more information.

We now have a limited number of COVID-19 testing kits; however, these may only be used if qualifying, current CDC guidelines for testing our met.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this notification or about our current screening procedure.

Thank you for your continued trust and loyalty as we work together to keep our well children well and able to get their checkups and immunizations and provide care for our sick patient safely.

We are rescheduling well-child check ups that do not have vaccines due.

We are developing telemedicine strategies to continue to assess and manage sick children, behavioral concerns, and any other concern that we typically see patients for.

Only 1-2 healthy, illness-free adults may accompany patients to any clinic appointment.

Please inform when making appointments of fever, cough and any possible exposure to COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus).

COVID-19 (3/11/2020)

Pecan Tree Pediatrics regards COVID-19 seriously. We are thankful that healthy children seem to have a more mild course than the elderly and immunocompromised.

It is our social responsibility to protect as many in our community from infection as possible. Children and young adults can spread illness to others. We request that only 1-2 adults accompany a child for an office visit and that siblings, other family members or friends not accompany patients.

We do not have the ability to test for COVID-19 at our office. You may have had a positive test for Coronavirus at our office. This is NOT the same type of Coronavirus that is causing a pandemic currently.

Due to the recommended protective gear required for evaluation of patients concerned that they have COVID-19, it is imperative that you notify us by phone if this is a concern so that we can advise and direct you safely to appropriate care.

Cover your sneezes and coughing.

Please wash your hands effectively and frequently, especially after touching shared surfaces, sneezing into your hands or blowing your nose.

Keep your distance. Try to maintain 6 feet from others.

Clean and disinfect shared surfaces frequently.

If you or your child is sick and can manage with care at home, please stay home. Please remain at home for the duration of illness.

Call and seek medical attention if you are short of breath, working hard to breathe, lethargic or rapidly worsening.
