Anxiety is one of the most common things that I treat as an acupuncturist. It shows up differently for everyone. For some, it's racing thoughts and inability to sleep. For others, it may be palpitations or digestive issues. Or, maybe it's an underlying systemic sensation causing unease.
The point prescription that I use will vary depending on what your anxiety looks and feels like. Here are some common points and what they can do for patients.
☯️ Yintang, one of the most requested acupuncture points. It's on your forehead, at the Third Eye. Yintang specifically calms anxiety and agitation and helps with insomnia.
☯️ DU20, on the very top of your head. This point helps to raise your energy if you need it, but also helps to calm your Spirit.
☯️ PC6, on the wrist. This is a quintessential point for palpitations, a tight chest, and nausea. Known as "Inner Fronteir Gate," it helps to calm your inner world.
☯️ HT7, "Spirit Gate," is also on the wrist. It's a beautiful point to improve sleep, ease the Heart and palpitations, and calm your Spirit.
☯️ If you add LU9 to HT7 and PC6, we now have a powerful combination called Buddha's triangle, used for anxiety, and calming your system. It's a great example of the synergistic effects of point combinations.
If you have anxiety, make some time for yourself. Book an acupuncture session to help put you on a path to greater ease.
