This class will be 15 min of anatomy breakdown, then a 45 min movement practice to explore your hip movement and gain awareness.

The deep hip rotators are a group of muscles that connect the pelvis to the top of the leg bones on both sides.
⛓️
They work synergistically with the pelvic floor muscles to create stability and support the core muscles above during various movements. When these muscles are in balance we have a functional amount of internal (leg bone can turn inward) and external (leg bone can turn outward) rotation.
Imbalances here can indicate tightness, weakness and cause pain, incontinence, and instability; suboptimal strength here can be associated with urinary urgency and frequency.

In this class we will discuss what is pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) and what the current guidelines are for use in the pre and postnatal period. We will discuss what is meant by management of pressure in the abdomen and how that relates to pelvic floor muscle tone and then review 10 things you should know about preventing perineal trauma in birth. There will be a 30 minute practice for feeling into the muscles in various positions and gaining awareness of both the contraction and controlled relaxation phase of a kegel. Finally, a tutorial on the “knack” and how to use this behavioral modification to prevent symptoms that may occur in pre/post natal people, such as incontinence or leaking.

This class is also great for anyone who has ever been pregnant, no matter how long ago!

CORE BASICS:
Experience pelvic floor & abdominal awareness within the context of pressure management, a key element of core work at any stage. The goal will be to use basic exercises as the gateway to understanding the core muscles and to begin imprinting, through repetition, this deepened awareness into more challenging tasks.

INTEGRATED CORE:
Integrated core is a breath fueled movement
class that builds like a traditional vinyasa class from simpler to more challenging.
The sequence will flow similarly to a traditional creative vinyasa class but the cueing will emphasize optimal breathing patterns and pelvic positioning, diaphragmatic expansion and relaxation, pelvic floor muscle activation and elease as well as toning of the deep abdominals.
The goal will be to learn how to create stability in the core regardless of the challenge at hand.

An exploration of rest.
Deeper consciousness, and the inner world.

Yoga Nidra is considered the practice of yogic sleep, or sleep with awareness. An embodied practice of relaxation, you’re invited to get comfortable and cozy and reclaim your right to rest.

We’ll start with an introduction to the practice and philosophy behind it, explore some gentle movements, and then settle in to savasana (or another supportive comfy posture) and experience an extended guided meditative practice. This practice can help us explore ways to better rest and let go.

After practice, there will be opportunities to explore your experience and ask questions.

Bring a journal, comfy clothes, and a desire to relax.
