Girls and young women are at high risk for both disordered eating AND ab&sive intimate relationships. Yet no one talks about this.

We socialize girls to be 'pretty' (read: thin) and then we tell them that they have to get married before they're 30 so that they can crank out babies before they get too old. And we wonder why they end up with ab&sive partners.

Both eating disorders and intimate partner violence prey upon the same vulnerable young women. Let's raise awareness of these trends and protect our daughters and other young women.

Why does our culture consistently side with men accused of abusing women? We know that we live in a patriarchy. We know that many abusers are charismatic, confident & charming. We know that there was a power imbalance (financially) between Amber Heard & Johnny Depp. So why are we so quick to support & celebrate an accused abuser?

Thrilled to present at the Annual Convention yesterday on coercive control. Teaching clinicians about the ways in which a narcissistic abuser uses tactics of coercive control, particularly during divorce, is a passion of mine.
