Remembering My Father, Alex Daoud
It has taken me some time to write this, and for that I want to apologize. Losing my father, Alex Daoud, so suddenly on March 15, 2025, has been one of the most surreal and heartbreaking experiences of my life. Putting these words together has been difficult, and for a while I simply couldn’t find the strength. Even now, it still feels unreal that he is no longer here.
My father was full of life, strong in spirit, and never frail. His independence was a defining part of who he was — I had offered to be his caretaker, but he was determined to remain on his own terms. I never expected that his time would be cut so short.
What he left me with, though, are memories that continue to guide me every day. His wisdom, his resilience, and his unique way of looking at the world have shaped me into the woman I am today. Those gifts are forever part of me, and for that I will always be grateful.
At the same time, this loss has been more than just emotional. The struggles surrounding his estate and the responsibilities left behind have taken a tremendous toll on me and my family. Closure has been hard to find, and the process has been painful, complicated, and ongoing.
Still, I wanted to create this space — even if later than I had hoped — as a way to honor him, to share a piece of his memory, and to let others know how deeply he was loved. This page is both a tribute and a reminder: grief is not simple, healing takes time, and even when things feel unsettled, love and memory remain.
Dad, I miss you deeply. Your legacy lives on in me, in the lives you touched, and in the strength I carry forward every day.
