Did you know that today was National Apple Dumpling Day! We did! And to honor this day, we made our own easy, homemade apple dumplings..just some apples, crescent rolls, butter, sugar & cinnamon & the secret ingredient....7-Up! They sure were delicious! What a beautiful day it was too..we so enjoy these Indian Summer Days outside as much as we can before it officially becomes Fall next week! 🍏🍎🥟☀️

Today's adventure was to Africa! Our Activities Director shared with us her recent trip to Africa which included a safari with various pictures that she took. We had a special African meal made by our culinary team of stew, naan bread & fried plantains. We had a special visitor drop in to give us some laughs, our Leadership Team had a little fun too. And to top it off, it was National Chocolate Milkshake Day! 🦓🦒🐘

Today was full of a little bit of everything! From remembering 9/11, watching the efficient work of several trees being cut & ground down on campus, enjoying some classical piano music by local pianist Stuart Leitch, celebrating some of our staff who are from several different Latin American countries by sampling different candies, and wearing our ♥️🤍💙. What a day it has been!

From Europe yesterday, we traveled to the Pacific & visited the Hawaiian Islands today!From enjoying another delicious meal which included a refreshing Pina Colada, to playing 'Roll with the Hawiian Punches', having a surprise visit by a friendly shark, then enjoying some music played on a ukulele by David Molinari. I think we can safely say we felt the island vibes! 🌴🥥🌊

Today's excursion was to Italy! We enjoyed a special meal made by our culinary department of baked ziti & cannolis for dessert at lunch. Then we traveled to Florence & the Amalfi Coast with Rick Steves while sampling some chocolate biscoti & Lemoncello La Croix. We ended our day with Madison, our music therapist who led us in singing some Italian love songs. Italy treated us well! 🇮🇹

To start our week of 'Ageless Adventure',we ventured out to the Ford Airport Viewing Park. We saw numerous planes arrive into Grand Rapids & a few take off to places such as Chicago & Denver. When asked if they could fly anywhere, several gave answers of "Denver & Hawaii!" We enjoyed the pleasant afternoon weather, the sights & sounds of the planes & other aircraft, and it even brought back some precious memories of our own adventures! 🛬✈️🛫

We are excited to get this week underway as today marks the first official day of National Assisted Living Week & it's National Grandparents Day! We can't think of a better way to celebrate than by thinking of all our wonderful Grandparents, past & present who've filled our lives with joy & love. Stay tuned to what we have in store this week..its going to be a fun one! 👴👵💕
