Today we recognize World Maternal Mental Health Day 💚

This day is a reminder that maternal mental health matters just as much as physical health—during pregnancy, after birth, and throughout the parenting journey.

Many parents experience anxiety, depression, overwhelm, or emotional exhaustion, and too often these experiences go unseen or unspoken. You are not alone in this.

Support, understanding, and care can make a meaningful difference. Asking for help is not a weakness—it’s an important step toward well-being for both parent and child.

💚 Your feelings are valid
💚 You deserve support
💚 You don’t have to carry it all alone

If you’re struggling, reaching out to a trusted provider can be a powerful first step.

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, we recognize the importance of culture, heritage, and community. 🌿

Days like today can be an opportunity to connect with loved ones, share traditions, and honor the richness of cultural identity.

At the same time, we also hold space for reflection, education, and respectful understanding of the history behind the day.

Culture and identity are deeply connected to mental health. Feeling seen, valued, and connected to your roots can be a powerful source of strength and well-being.

💚 Celebrate in a way that feels meaningful to you
💚 Honor your story and your community
💚 Make space for both joy and reflection

Wishing everyone a day of connection, care, and intention.

Finding the right therapist isn’t about “sticking it out” if something doesn’t feel right—it’s about finding a space where you can actually show up as yourself. 💛

A strong therapeutic fit often feels like being able to exhale a little. You don’t have to filter as much. You feel listened to, respected, and supported in a way that helps you grow.

On the other hand, if you’re leaving sessions feeling unheard, guarded, or unsure about the direction of your work together, it’s worth paying attention to that.

Therapy should feel like a place you can land—not a place you have to brace yourself for.

It’s okay if finding the right fit takes time. You deserve care that feels aligned with you.

💚 Trust your experience
💚 You’re allowed to ask questions
💚 The right support is out there

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. It’s okay to slow down, set boundaries, ask for help, and prioritize yourself—without guilt.

Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, relationships, or just trying to get through the day, you don’t have to do it alone. Support is here, and healing is possible.

Let’s continue to break the stigma, start honest conversations, and remind one another: your mental health matters—every single day.

Crying isn’t something to “fix”—it’s something to understand. 💧

Tears are one of the ways our bodies process and release emotion. Whether it’s sadness, stress, relief, or even joy, crying can be part of how we move through what we’re feeling.

For some, it comes easily.
For others, it feels harder or less frequent.
Both are valid.

Instead of judging the response, we can get curious about what it might be trying to communicate.

💚 Your emotions have a purpose
💚 Your reactions make sense
💚 You’re allowed to feel

This blog by Marissa Pollet explains that staying present is difficult—especially with anxiety—because the brain is wired to scan for threats, replay the past, and anticipate the future as a way to protect you. This “mental time travel” can become a habit, fueled by unresolved emotions and a desire for control.

Anxiety intensifies this pattern by focusing attention on worst-case scenarios, increasing sensitivity to potential threats, and keeping the mind in a constant state of alertness. This makes it hard to relax, focus, or feel connected to the present moment.

Common signs of being stuck outside the present include rumination about the past, excessive worry about the future, difficulty concentrating, and feeling disconnected.

The article suggests that instead of trying to eliminate thoughts, the goal is to notice and gently redirect them. Helpful strategies include labeling your thoughts, grounding yourself through your senses, focusing on breathing, scheduling dedicated “worry time,” engaging in simple physical actions, and questioning whether a thought is useful.

Ultimately, being present isn’t about perfection or never thinking about the past or future—it’s about repeatedly returning to the present moment and building healthier mental habits over time.

What does a “good fit” in therapy actually mean? 💛

It’s not about finding a perfect therapist—it’s about finding someone you feel safe with.

Therapy is a relationship, and connection matters. You deserve a space where you can grow, ask questions, and move at your own pace.

And if something doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to explore other options. Finding the right fit can take time—and that’s a normal part of the process.

💚 You deserve to feel comfortable
💚 You deserve to feel supported
💚 You deserve care that works for you

Thinking about taking a break from therapy this summer? ☀️💭

While routines often change, your mental health still matters—maybe even more during times of transition.

Summer can bring:
✨ Changes in structure and routine
✨ More unstructured time (which can feel overwhelming for some)
✨ Family, social, or life transitions
✨ Space to reflect, reset, and grow

Continuing therapy over the summer can help you:
✨ Maintain progress you’ve worked hard for
✨ Build new coping skills in real-life situations
✨ Prepare for upcoming transitions (like a new school year or life changes)
✨ Have consistent support—even when everything else shifts

You don’t have to pause your growth just because the season changes 🌿

Co-regulation starts with you 💛👩‍👧

Before children can regulate their emotions on their own, they learn how to do it through safe, supportive relationships. That’s where co-regulation comes in.

When a child is overwhelmed, your calm presence can help their nervous system settle.

Co-regulation isn’t about “fixing” the emotion—it’s about helping a child feel safe enough to move through it.

Over time, these moments build the foundation for lifelong emotional regulation skills.

🌍💚 This Earth Day, we’re reminded that healing isn’t just personal—it’s environmental too.
Spending time in nature can calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and reconnect us to what matters most. Whether it’s a walk outside, feeling the sun on your skin, or simply pausing to notice the world around you, caring for the Earth is also a way of caring for yourself.
Let today be a gentle reminder: you are part of this planet, and your well-being matters just as much as its health.

The inner critic can sound convincing—but it’s often rooted in fear, past experiences, or unrealistic expectations.

Some common inner critic phrases:
✨ “I’m not good enough.”
✨ “I always mess things up.”
✨ “Everyone else has it figured out but me.”
✨ “I should be doing more.”
✨ “If I’m not perfect, I’ve failed.”

Over time, these thoughts can impact self-esteem and increase anxiety—but they can be challenged.

Try asking yourself:
💬 Would I say this to someone I care about?
💬 Is this thought 100% true?
💬 What’s a more balanced or compassionate way to see this?

You are more than your inner critic—and learning to respond to it with kindness can make a powerful difference.
