Some habits don’t look harmful at first. They can look like staying busy, pushing through, keeping it together, or telling yourself you’ll deal with it later.

They look like saying “I’m fine” when you’re overwhelmed. Staying busy so you don’t have to feel what’s going on. Answering everyone else’s needs while your own keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list. But constantly ignoring your needs, running on empty, comparing yourself to everyone else, and never giving yourself room to slow down can take a real toll on your mental health. This isn't a matter of “just being productive.”

A lot of the things that wear us down are the same things we get praised for.
If you’ve been feeling more irritable, disconnected, anxious, or emotionally drained lately, it may not be random. Awareness matters because sometimes it’s the small patterns we repeat every day. The patterns that quietly drain you can also be the first ones you start to change.

Which one hit a little too close to home?

What happened to you is a real part of your story, but it doesn't get authority over who you are.
You’re allowed to outgrow it, rewrite it, and choose something different.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Not everything you carry is visible.
Not every struggle looks like struggle.
And not every strong person feels strong.

This month is a reminder:
You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to take care of your mental health.

Check in with yourself:
• How am I really doing?
• What have I been avoiding?
• What do I actually need right now?

Taking care of your mind isn’t a luxury. It’s essential.
Whether it’s therapy, rest, boundaries, movement, connection, or simply slowing down… it counts.

If this feels like you, consider this your sign to reach out for support. You deserve to feel okay- not just function.

Sometimes trauma is like surviving the chaos, but your body didn’t get the memo that the fire alarm’s off and is running on overtime… sometimes years after the chaos left town.

If this feels like you, you’re not broken. You’re human. Reach out. Talk to someone you trust, or connect with a professional. Survival deserves support.

Your presence, in any way, is part of the support. Join us at 6:00pm in our Clear Water Wellness office at 4 Park Plaza, Wyomissing PA, 19610.

You don’t need a new browser. You just need fewer tabs open.
Close a few. Breathe. Focus. Repeat.
Your brain (and your sanity) will thank you.

Meet Jorie!

Jorie is a young cat who’s experienced far more in his short lifetime than any kitty should have to. When he was only a kitten he lost his mom and his siblings, which left him alone in a big scary world of humans. He’s been moving between foster homes since then, and while his foster families have done their best to teach him that people aren’t always bad and scary, he isn’t quite ready to trust that yet. Because of this, he isn’t the cuddliest cat you’ll ever meet, and there’s a chance that he may never become a cuddly lap cat. He loves other cats and has gotten comfortable hanging out in the same space as his foster family, but he’s still a little wary of people getting too close. He’s looking for a forever home that can respect his boundaries and earn his trust over time without any expectation of what that trust may eventually look like.

Trust is something that can be difficult for a lot of us. Just like Jorie, we may experience things in our lives like abuse, assault, loss, and hardship that teach us that people can be bad and scary too. When that trust in people is broken, the process on how to rebuild trust and get back to safety can even feel like an impossible mystery, something we knew once but that’s now lost forever. Even worse, we can feel like people around us are putting pressure on us to let them in and heal- not because it’s what we need, but because it’s what’s easier or better for them. Jorie may come to trust people, but he may never want to be cuddled- and that’s okay! Your own version of healing and regaining trust in others and yourself may not look like what others expect (or want) it to look like. Healing is messy and confusing and non-linear, but with the right supports it is possible.

If you feel like you can relate to Jorie’s story, give us a call to set up counseling services- we’ll be here with no expectations or judgement to support you in your journey!

Jorie is a young cat (1-3 years old), male, neutered, and FIV/FeLV negative. He is available to adopt through Pawsitive Hearts Pet Therapy and Rescue.

Content Warning: This post discusses sexual assault. Some parts may be triggering for survivors and others affected by trauma. Please take care of yourself as you read and note that your safety and wellbeing should be prioritized.

This week, we explore what it really means to be an ally to survivors of sexual assault.

Supporting someone isn’t about having the “right” words or fixing what happened. It’s about showing up, believing, and creating safety and trust. From listening without judgment to respecting boundaries and offering practical support, every thoughtful action matters.

Allyship is ongoing, reflective, and rooted in empathy and it’s just as important to care for yourself along the way. You don’t need all the answers; your presence, consistency, and belief are the most powerful tools you have.
