Guess who’s eating GOOD for the next week??? 😎🍽️

Flashback to our March Madness bracket showdown a few years ago… UConn wins it all, I take down Lori Cooper Ketterer and she’s suddenly on meal duty. TWO meals. 🍳
(And let’s not forget… someone—still a mystery 🤣🤣🤣—hooked her up with that special cooking apron.)

Meanwhile… if I lost? I’d be out there scrubbing her car like a detail guy 🧽🚗

Fast forward to NOW…

UConn handles Duke, punches that Final Four ticket… and what does that mean???

BACK.
TO.
BACK.
CHAMP. 😤🏀🏆🏆

That apron stays undefeated… just like me 😎

So here’s to HER dirty car…
and MY full belly!!! 🍲🔥

Better start meal prepping, Lori… don’t rush greatness 😏

CHAMPIONS. 🏆

What a season. What a team. What a journey.

Every drop of sweat, every early morning, every moment of discipline — it all showed up when it mattered most. Cutting down the net is amazing, but the work it took to get here? That’s what makes it unforgettable.

So proud of these young men and woman. They’re in these pictures because we’ve had, and continue to have, a small part of their journey to success. And shoutout to their parents — supportive, respectful, and thankful of us and what we do every step of the way. That says everything.

We’re honored to be part of this community — helping athletes and non- athletes recover, stay strong, and come back better than ever. Watching them succeed? That’s why we do what we do.

Yes, Lori Cooper Ketterer and l got a little teary-eyed during those last seconds of the games — because we’ve all been part of something bigger than basketball.

Enjoy it. You earned every second. We’re so very proud of you!!! 🏀🔥

Cool to hang out with your workmates after a busy week, so awesome to lift a few pints with our patients as well…add that with the famous Alex Meixner Band at Octoberfest ??? Well there’s not enough superlatives to describe that!

What do you do when boyfriend/girlfriend who happen to be collegiate lacrosse players are coming into PT at the same time…at the exact same appointment slot…AND are wearing matching color shirts???? Totally unplanned???? You make them compete in the BlazePod plank challenge!!!

So let’s chronicle someone having both knees replaced AT THE SAME TIME! And that someone?? Our very own Lori Cooper Ketterer!!
With any joint replacement success it starts BEFORE the surgery. Making sure you’ve check boxed several things:
1. Good muscle tone and having some cardiorespiratory fitness ✅
2. Finding the right joint replacement surgeon. Just because someone does a high volume of surgeries or your neighbor liked them or your friend who works in the operating room loves their personality doesn’t mean they have good outcomes. Youll spend hours researching your new car purchase…do the same with your surgeon choice. Talk to us, talk to other PTs and athletic trainers we see the outcomes✅
3. Have the right attitude. You may think you’re a “tough” person…until you have a knee replaced…I have seen this surgery break people I thought were mentally ready and strong. Remember it’s a marathon and not a sprint…good days and bad days. Be positive in the midst of despair. ✅
4. Get your support system in place. I have written about this before…it takes a village to have success in anything… get your villagers lined up. You’ll need rides to appointments, getting prescriptions, help with meals, someone to complain to, listen to, talk to, etc. ✅
5. Find a good PT… Lori Cooper Ketterer had no choice! 🤣🤣🤣 and just because your doctor has a financial interest in the PT office next door to them that they own doesn’t mean they have experienced clinicians who can deal with the very few but troubling complications that come up. Walk into a corporate owned PT office today and you could be seeing someone with 6 months or 10 years of experience. Are you working with the same PT every time you walk in? Ask these questions. As with your surgeon choice, do some research✅

So Lori was biking up until the day of her surgery, was doing pre-surgery exercises to strengthen her leg, we found the best surgeon to do both knees at the same time, mom Cooper came to stay with her and her family is waiting on her, of course the PT thing was ✅, and she knew what to expect. And because of working with me, shes a tough cookie. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼This was her one day post op:

Bandaged up for a few days, swelling of thigh/knee/calf…all normal. Black and Blue of thigh/calf/even the foot all normal. Keys to the first day: ice/meds/try and allow the knee to bend and straighten as you can tolerate. No real exercise, be happy you’re up and taking nourishment. With having both knees replaced, you will most likely stay overnight. One sided replacements are being done on an outpatient basis in some areas. Expect the worst hope for the best!

So that’s the start…more follow up posts coming!

I have some comedic coworkers…get to work early today, stopped at Wawa for some coffee, ready to roll. First patients come in and say “Hey didn’t know it was your birthday!” Perplexed I said my bday isn’t for 2 weeks, weird they’d say that?

Next patients come in and immediately say “Hey Happy 60th! I’m like what are you guys talking about??? Wait a minute…none of my coworkers are looking me in the eye… so I walk outside and what do I see????
Paybacks are going to be fun….

Honored to give a presentation for the Pennsylvania PT Association district meeting this past weekend at Alvernia University. Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) was the topic. Alvernia’s PT department and faculty are top notch and the facilities are wonderful for a continuing education seminar! Thanks to Jim O’Donohue, PT for the invite!

Everyone will remember his 1000 points, leading the county in scoring, being Berks County player of the year and district champion. But we remember last year when he couldn’t bend his knee to a 90 degree angle, wasn’t able to raise his leg on his own. I’ll recall the little grin when I said it’s time to get on the squat rack, the smile when I said it’s time to run on the treadmill for the first time after his devastating knee injury. And people think it was “just a broken bone”. It was more…to those unknowing, it could have ended or completely disrupted his basketball career. He needed meticulous and calculated rehab because we weren’t even considering how well he’d play this season, we wanted his knee to last a long and prosperous career. He worked tirelessly. Without question one of the most driven and determined athletes we’ve had the pleasure to have in our office. And even though he set our assault bike record, he couldn’t beat me in the plank competition!!

Here’s to you my man, go get that chip tonight! 🏆🏆🏀🏀
