When asked why she chose this role, she shared that she wanted to offer the same care, compassion, and guidance to families that her own family received when her mother was in hospice. Her personal experience fuels her passion for helping others during one of life’s most important journeys.

We’re gearing up for an exciting auction fundraiser next week to benefit the Gentiva Hospice Relay for Life team, and we need your help!

We’re reaching out to amazing small businesses, like Scentsy Consultants, hair salons, Mary Kay, ColorStreet, and others, who may be able to donate items or services for our auction. Your generosity will directly support Relay for Life, helping fund critical cancer research, patient support, and spreading hope.

We are seeking volunteers in the Abingdon/Bristol area, as well as several other locations! Our volunteers have the opportunity to provide companionship to patients, either in their homes or at nursing facilities. There are no physical requirements, as volunteers do not participate in lifting or transferring patients. Instead, the focus is on offering emotional support and companionship, which plays a vital role in bringing peace and comfort during this stage of their life!

Our lives are not measured by what we get, but by what we give. If you have a natural gift for empathy and want to make a difference, we can help you be a force for good in the lives of those most in need.

March is Social Worker Appreciation Month, and we couldn't let it pass without expressing our deepest gratitude for Rachel, our incredible social worker with Gentiva Hospice. Her unwavering compassion, kindness, and dedication have been a true blessing to everyone she encounters. Whether it's offering a listening ear, guiding families through difficult times, or simply being a beacon of hope, Rachel truly embodies the heart and soul of what it means to care for others.

We are so fortunate to have her, and her impact is felt every day. Thank you, Rachel, for your tireless efforts, your warm heart, and your unwavering commitment.

Several of our nurses had the honor and privilege of holding a Nightingale Tribute at one of our patient's funerals. A Nightingale tribute offers fellow nurses an opportunity to commemorate and recognize their colleague's work while recognizing that nurse's unique contribution and dedication to caring for others.

Our patient had served as a nurse in the Air Force and civilian realm for many years. She dedicated her life to caring for others and providing education for fellow nurses. It was truly an honor to remember and celebrate her service.
