Earlier this summer, we reached a new all-time high of patients served. In celebration of all the hard work of our teams, we asked them to vote on the leader they would most like to see in a dunk tank. Sunday Watson, Regional Vice President of Operations for our Central offices earned that spot, and last week we learned that while none of us would be moving onto the MLB, we had a great time throwing a few baseballs and giving her a good soaking.

Thank you, Caris partners for all of your hard work!

Grief doesn’t always begin with goodbye. 💜

During Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, we recognize the emotional weight of ambiguous loss—the kind that begins when memory fades but a loved one remains physically present. For many adult children, caring for a parent with dementia brings a unique kind of heartache. You are not alone.

In celebration of CNA Week, our executive team would like to thank our hospice aides for the critical work they do.

Our Hospice Aides are the lifeblood of our company. Every day, they embody the spirit of hospice care, combining clinical excellence with unwavering compassion to meet the basic needs of our patients and enhance their overall quality of life. They share the most intimate relationships with our patients and are the most requested service at Caris. Without our Hospice Aides, there would be no Caris.

We love hearing feedback like this—thank you for recognizing the compassionate care our nurses provide every day.

"Caris has been a blessing. I live several states away and have been unable to visit my loved one. It has been a peace of mind and a comfort to my soul knowing such wonderful people are looking after my dad. I have spoken to all levels of their team, from admin to receptionist, to social services, and to nurses -- each person has professionally and lovingly taken time to discuss issues and answer my questions with kindness and patience. To listen to their report after a visit, you would think that they were discussing their own family member because I can hear the compassion in the details. The staff must love what they do because it is reflected in their work performance. It isn't an easy job, but they do it with grace. And I am forever grateful."

Congratulations to Sue Sparks, RN from the Wytheville, VA office, who passed the CHPN exam! The first Registered Nurse certification exam was offered in 1994 and awarded the credential CRNH (Certified Registered Nurse Hospice) to those who successfully passed the exam. In 1999, the examination was expanded to include palliative care, and successful candidates are now awarded the credential CHPN® (Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse). Currently, there are nearly 12,000 nurses who hold the CHPN® credential. HPCC is the only organization that offers specialty certification for all levels of hospice and palliative care professionals. Each certification is valid for four years, after which the professional may renew their credential. Please congratulate Sue on this accomplishment and her ongoing efforts to demonstrate her professional commitment to safe, ethical, and evidence-based end-of-life care.
