As we jump into February, we are super excited to see that the hard work, planning, prayer, and passion our team has put into the Keys of Hope Mental Wellness Forum is coming together for the event in just a few weeks!! I am encouraging you to take advantage of this opportunity to hear from an awesome panel of experienced and knowledgeable speakers addressing such a variety of topics that will benefit those who suffer & those who support them. We are specifically organizing entire tracks just for pastors, church staff, & ministry leads. Mental illness is not always a crisis of belief, but a nervous system shaped by what it has endured. This workshop invites the Church to trade spiritual shortcuts for wise compassion, holding faith and neurobiology together so those who are suffering are met where they are at and with grace. Cedarville University Nursing professor Jenna Orme (with over 30 years in nursing and 15 years in the psychiatric setting) is passionate about caring for those affected by mental illness. Caregiver burnout is real. Melissa Brown tackles this poignant mental health trial that is real for so many. We want to love and give as much as we can to those we are caring for, especially as so many are taking on the care of aging parents, children with disabilities, or ministers serving their congregations. But the burnout and mental stress can be so heavy. Having served for many years in hospice as a social worker and now a professor at Cedarville University, Melissa brings insight and compassion to this subject.

After the sudden loss of her 13-year-old son Christopher, while playing basketball in 2005, Joy Ware Miller and her family were thrust into a season of deep grief, questions, and heartache. As they navigated a new and painful normal, Joy learned firsthand that God’s goodness is not measured by the absence of suffering, but by His faithful presence through it. That journey reshaped her faith and calling, grounding her in the truth that God is with us in both the good and the hard moments of life.

We are especially excited to hear from Tony Coder and Chris Grant about the importance of the church in a person's mental health recovery and family's healing after a su***de loss. They will share testimony and look at signs of su***de, how to refer someone to care and how the church can help with purpose and healing from su***de ideation and/or su***de loss.
Tony is the CEO of the Ohio Su***de Prevention Foundation and has a passion for families dealing with su***de prevention and postvention.
