Today we celebrate Billi Kennedy!!

Billi is currently the home manager for a site serving four gentlemen, and the dedication she has shown to improving the lives of each of these individuals should be recognized! Since Billi has been working at this home, an elder gentleman who previously wanted to stay home, is now going out into the community regularly. This speaks to how safe the guys feel with her. Billi has walked through significant health issues with two of the residents, ensuring that they have got the treatment they need, and advocating for them in front of multiple medical professionals. She has also been instrumental and encouraging positive interaction between these four housemates, and they now enjoy spending some time together instead of isolating themselves. Billi is always supporting all of these men to be as independent as they are able to be, and you can see the effects of this and the smiles on their faces. Thank you so much Billi, for going above and beyond, we think you are incredible and appreciate your stellar services.

Brandi started with Toward Independence, Inc. (TI) 23 years ago as a DSP (Direct Support Professional). She worked her way up as a supervisor in one of TI’s homes that needed a little more TLC. She has stuck by her clients in this home, through thick and thin, and threw it all, makes sure those she supports are taken care. Thank you Brandi for your many years of dedication, loving care and leadership. TI is so proud to have her on their team, and we are grateful for your stellar services. Brandi for all the hard work and hours that you put into your job - it is appreciated and does not go unnoticed, thank you!

🚗🍫 Out of This World Fun in Uranus! 🍫🚗

Three of the amazing ladies we serve in Montgomery County decided it was time for a little adventure, so they packed up and headed to Uranus! (Uranus Fudge Factory- Richmond Indiana that is! 😉)

From the moment they walked in, they were greeted with laughter, jokes, and a whole lot of chocolatey goodness. The shop was full of funny and punny merchandise that kept them smiling from ear to ear. 🤣 Between the hilarious signs, the friendly staff, and the smell of fresh fudge in the air, it was impossible not to have a great time!

Of course, they couldn’t resist sampling a few flavors, and let’s just say the fudge was so delicious and mouthwatering that they made sure to bring some home for later (sharing optional! 😋).

By the end of the day, their sides hurt from laughing so hard, and their hearts were full from all the fun and friendship. 💕

These ladies said the trip was out of this world, and they’re already planning their next visit back to Uranus! 🌎✨

🥗💚 GIVING BACK, ONE MEAL AT A TIME! 💚🥗

This week, several Toward Independence team members had the incredible opportunity to serve side-by-side at One Bistro Xenia, a pay-it-forward community café committed to feeding both bodies and souls.

They helped serve meals, greeted guests, washed dishes, wiped tables, and most importantly, shared in genuine human connection. 💚

🙌 AT THE HEART OF WHO WE ARE IS COMMUNITY.
It’s about more than the services we provide or the tasks we complete it’s about BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER from all walks of life, sharing stories, and being in community with one another.

🤝 THANK YOU, ONE BISTRO, for allowing us to help serve this amazing community meal. We trust that every guest who walked through your doors was as blessed by the experience as we were by your service, sacrifice, and spirit of generosity.
