Happy Thank a Resident Day!

Today, we’re celebrating not only our physician residents, but also our Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) interns and fellows — who are fully integrated across our clinics and part of the care our patients receive every day.

Together, they represent the future of whole-person care. From exam rooms to behavioral health visits, they are learning, leading, and serving our communities with compassion, cultural humility, and dedication.

Training the next generation of healthcare leaders isn’t just part of our mission — it’s part of how we strengthen access to care in our region.
Join us in thanking our residents and PCBH trainees for the impact they make every single day.

Christy Trotter, our CEO, is in Washington, D.C. today advocating for the future funding of community health centers at the National Association of Community Health Centers' Policy & Issues Forum! We met with congressional leaders on capitol hill today and shared the impact that CHCs like Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic have on the health of communities throughout the U.S.

Thank you, Rep. Dan Newhouse , for meeting with us, Rhonda D. Hauff of Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, and Angela Gonzalez of Community Health of Central Washington. The funding that community health centers receive allows organizations like ours to serve 1 in 7 Americans throughout the U.S.!

We are grateful for the trust our patients place in us every day and for the opportunity to partner with our communities in care.

At Community Health of Central Washington, patients are at the center of everything we do. Thank you for being part of the CHCW community.

Taking care of your heart doesn’t have to start with big changes.

Simple habits - like walking regularly - can help lower blood pressure, reduce stress, improve circulation, and support long-term heart health.

At Community Health of Central Washington, we’re committed to supporting the heart of our community through education, prevention, and compassionate care.

Christy Trotter, CEO; Dr. Maria Verduzco, Clinic Medical Director; and Sandra Suarez, Director of Funding Development were appreciative of the bi-partisan support of our patients and the communities we serve!

Your cervical health matters. Routine cervical cancer screenings can help detect changes early, often before cancer even develops.

If it’s been a while since your last screening, this is a gentle reminder to prioritize your health. Talk to your healthcare provider about when you should be screened and what’s right for you. Taking care of yourself today supports lifelong wellness!

Learn more about cervical health here:

The holidays are a time to celebrate, connect, and enjoy good food, but it’s easy to let healthy habits slip away. Small changes can make a big difference for your energy, mood, and overall health.

Here are a few tips to stay balanced this season:
Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables.
Stay hydrated, drink water throughout the day.
Enjoy your favorite holiday dishes in moderation.
Take a short walk after meals to support digestion and reduce stress.

At Community Health of Central Washington, we’re here to support your wellness journey all year long.
Talk to your CHCW provider or dietitian for personalized nutrition advice and healthy meal planning.
