Today we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

A Day of Remembrance is more than a holiday. It’s a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many families and to honor those who never made it home.

Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

The orchards are blooming, the days are getting longer, and the Yakima Valley is doing what it does best this time of year.

Spring here is short and worth paying attention to. The window between the last cold snap and the first real heat of summer is narrow, and it has a way of slipping by before you realize it happened.

Step away from the to-do list when you can. Take the scenic route. Eat outside. Call someone you've been meaning to catch up with. Drive out toward Naches or Selah just to see the hillsides green up before the summer sun turns everything gold.

The Valley has a way of reminding you to slow down if you let it. This month, let it.
