On this day, September 18, 1895, Dr. Daniel David Palmer performed the very first chiropractic adjustment on Harvey Lillard, a janitor who had been suffering from hearing loss for 17 years. After an injury that caused a vertebra to misalign, Harvey lost his ability to hear. Dr. Palmer's spinal adjustment restored his hearing, marking the birth of chiropractic care as we know it.
