WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG FOR MY MRI TO BE SCHEDULED????!!!!
We have been getting an overwhelming amount of calls regarding MRI scheduling. Here’s some information to keep in mind when it comes to getting scheduled for an MRI:
- INSURANCE: ALL INSURANCES MUST BE VERIFIED!!! Just because the doctor ordered and MRI does not automatically mean your insurance will authorize it. Depending on the insurance, there is usually certain criteria that must be met before they will authorize. This can include things like: going to physical therapy first, a trial of anti inflammatory, etc. The process for insurance to authorize your MRI can take between TWO to THREE weeks from the date of your visit.
-IMAGING FACILITIES: we currently do not have an MRI unit on site which means we are outsourcing all imaging. We hope to have a mobile MRI unit available within 30-45 days. Memorial Imaging Services is currently booked out about 3-4 WEEKS! This is out of our control and is due to the high volume of patients needing imaging around the valley.
-VOLUME: we have a very high volume of patients who are also needing imaging. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to expedite this process at this time. Returning calls can take some time because each medical assistant has a large patient load. Medical assistants cannot return calls while in clinic.
Your care is very important to us and we are working to get back to you as soon as we can. We do not have the ability to expedite the authorization or scheduling process. We are working hard to get you the care you need. Please be patient while we navigate through these long wait times.
