Earlier this month, we hosted 92 students from various Mitchell area schools. Students were able to spend a couple hours learning about 11 different healthcare careers🎉 Huge thanks to the South Dakota Department of Health for funding this fun day and to all our awesome partners who made it happen!

It was great spending the day with Aberdeen students at Camp Med! 🦷 At our station, they explored dental careers by cleaning “calculus” off dental models and placing playdough fillings. Thanks to Northeast SD AHEC for hosting and to the students for making it such a fun day! 😄

Last week, we had a great time at SD HOSA’s Fall Launch! 🎉 We spent the day with high school students exploring hands-on areas like Medical Lab and Dental — and even joined in on a fun round of healthcare-themed charades! 😄

Camp Med Highlights from Mitchell!
April 22, 2025 | Corn Palace

Seventy-five seventh graders explored the world of healthcare careers at Mitchell Camp Med—right inside the iconic Corn Palace!

Students rotated through eight hands-on stations led by real healthcare pros, diving into careers like:
✅ Dental care
✅ Speech pathology
✅ Radiology
✅ Respiratory therapy
✅ Health informatics..and more!

This fast-paced, interactive day gave students a close-up look at how they can make a difference in rural healthcare. Whether listening to a heartbeat or exploring digital diagnostics, each student walked away with new inspiration for the future.
