Has life been busy? Stop what you're doing. Turn the radio down, TV off, and sit in silence. Clear your mind. Feel your heart. Listen to your breathing. Take big breaths in through your nose, hold it, then slowly release out of your mouth. As you breathe out, imagine all the stress and tension leaving your body. Don't forget, you're important. You matter. Self care is critical to your mental health.

Taking care of yourself is important. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Anxious? On edge? Take a minute. Stop what you're doing. Just breathe. Go to a quiet place, shut your door, and take deep breaths. We can easily get overstimulated by our surroundings without realizing it. Although being around people can be fun, avoid the Negative Nancy's, it will drain your energy without you even realizing it!!

Unhealthy relationships have a direct impact on our mental health. Signs of unhealthy relationships can include: Clingy or obsessive behavior (where a person needs constant contact with you), manipulation, guilting you, or where someone is belittling you.

These types of behaviors are toxic. It is important to recognize the signs when you are in an unhealthy relationship and set boundaries. It's ok to enforce healthy boundaries, even with our relatives and loved ones.

Did you know that stress can directly impact your body's weight? Cortisol is a hormone that is sometimes referred to as "stress hormone." When we get stressed, our body releases cortisol, triggering our "fight/flight" response.

Cortisol can increase our appetite, slow down our metabolism, and promote fat storage when our levels are chronically elevated.

It's important to learn stress management techniques, eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise, and make sure we are getting enough sleep. These are all things that lower our cortisol levels.
