Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter Welcome to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center page. We are always in need of volunteers to help walk and socialize the animals.

The Brookhaven Animal Shelter & Adoption Center staff is dedicated to helping the homeless pets in our township. We are proud of the fact that over 94% of the animals that come to us are saved because of the implementation of adoption programs and additional adoption center hours. Additionally coalition building with private humane societies and other animal organizations, significant upgrades to the kennels and shelter atmosphere, the addition of an education room and new training programs for the staff have all contributed to recent successes. Our outreach programs provide the community with educational and pet companionship opportunities. The Help the Animals Fund provides medical care for sick and injured stray animals that previously would have had to be euthanized. 🚨 **Desperate Need for Fosters!** 🚨

The dogs at the **Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter** need YOU. 💔 While they wait for forever homes, we are urgently looking for foster families to step up and give them a safe, loving place to stay.

Fostering saves lives—it gives dogs a break from the stress of the shelter, helps us learn more about them, and opens up space so we can continue to help others in need. 🐾

A wonderful evening was had at the Setauket Farmers Market on Friday! 🐾

Luckily, Maddie the Husky has found her forever family and will be heading to her new home soon. ❤️

Sweet Liddy is still looking for hers! This beautiful girl arrived as a stray (with milk still in supply, showing she was once a mama) and has been slowly gaining confidence in the shelter. She’s proving that with patience and love, she can be the most loyal and devoted companion. After her bursts of playful energy, Liddy is happiest curled up on a dog bed, napping peacefully. 💤

Liddy seems semi-housebroken, is already spayed, and is ready to start her new chapter with a forever family. She gets along well with other dogs and could thrive in a home with another pup after a proper meet-and-greet. Due to her shy nature, we recommend a home with kids 12+ who can respect her need for patience.

We’re so happy to share that we said happy tails and happy lives to so many wonderful dogs this month —, Sprout, Duchess, Soldier, Rhea, Pluto, Corah, Sparti, Onyx, Dodge, Jackie, Mr.Teddy P, Willis, Jenny, Loki, and Amber! 🎉💖

A big shoutout as well to our pups who found amazing foster families — we’re crossing our fingers these turn into forever homes for Fonzi, Penny, Malibu, and Brioche! 🏡🐶

Huge thanks to all the rescues who pulled dogs from us in September — your support truly makes a difference and we appreciate you more than words can say! 🙏💙
