Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter Welcome to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center page. We are always in need of volunteers to help walk and socialize the animals.

The Brookhaven Animal Shelter & Adoption Center staff is dedicated to helping the homeless pets in our township. We are proud of the fact that over 94% of the animals that come to us are saved because of the implementation of adoption programs and additional adoption center hours. Additionally coalition building with private humane societies and other animal organizations, significant upgrades to the kennels and shelter atmosphere, the addition of an education room and new training programs for the staff have all contributed to recent successes. Our outreach programs provide the community with educational and pet companionship opportunities. The Help the Animals Fund provides medical care for sick and injured stray animals that previously would have had to be euthanized. Scooby and Mocha were beyond excited to receive their new toys — tails wagging, smiles all around! Your kindness and generosity truly make a difference in the lives of our shelter pets, giving them comfort, enrichment, and lots of happy moments while they wait for their forever homes.

As February comes to a close, the month of love is slipping away… and heartbreakingly, **Luna is still here**. 💔

This Valentine’s Day season, we shined a spotlight on a very special girl who has waited **far too long** for her happily-ever-after — and now, as the days pass, she remains our **longest resident** at the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter.

✨ Meet LUNA ✨
Sweet Luna arrived at our shelter on **10/07/2023** when her family could no longer care for her. Surrendered, confused, and sad — she’s been waiting ever since. Day after day, she watches other dogs leave with their new families, while she continues to hope that *her* person will finally walk through the door. 🐾💔

About her:
• 5-year-old spayed female
• Approx. 50 lbs
• Looking for a home with kids **14+**
• Would thrive as the **only pet**
• Active, intelligent, and incredibly sweet

I’ve been at the shelter for a long time now, so I know just how much your kindness means to all of us here.

Right now, my friends and I could really use some help. If you’re able, I’m asking for donations of:

🧺 **Blankets and comforters** to keep our dogs and cats cozy
🥫 **Unopened dog and cat food** for our community outreach pantry, helping pets stay with the families who love them
