Kindness as a Radical Act

February is often framed around love, but Buddhist teachings remind us that loving-kindness begins inward. Metta is the practice of wishing well-being for ourselves and others, without conditions.

What if this month you practiced being a little softer with yourself? Listening more closely to your body. Allowing rest when it’s needed. Trusting that care is not weakness.

At Seva, kindness is not a goal. It’s a practice.

February Service Project: Yardley-Makefield Fire Company

This February, Seva is honored to support the Yardley-Makefield Fire Company, a volunteer organization that has served our local community with dedication, courage, and care for generations.

Throughout the month, a portion of all Seva sales will be donated to Yardley-Makefield Fire Co., along with additional in-studio contributions.

Yardley-Makefield Fire Company provides fire protection, emergency response, and community education to Yardley Borough and Lower Makefield Township. Staffed by highly trained volunteers, their work depends on community support to maintain equipment, training, and readiness. So they can continue showing up when it matters most.

We’re grateful for their service and proud to support those who protect and care for our neighbors every day.

Be well. Do good work.

Mid-January Check-In

As January continues, we’re grateful to be supporting NAMI Bucks County, an organization doing vital work to strengthen mental health awareness, education, and community support right here at home.

NAMI Bucks County offers free programs, peer-led support groups, education for families, and advocacy for those navigating mental health challenges. Their work reminds us that no one has to walk this path alone and that compassion, understanding, and connection truly matter.

There’s still time this month to support our service project:
A portion of all Seva sales in January is donated to NAMI
In-studio donations are always welcome
Make a donation directly to to NAMI Bucks at https://namibuckspa.org/get-involved/donate/

We invite you to learn more about NAMI Bucks County, follow their work, and share their mission:

Be kind. Be gentle. Be generous.
Be well and do good work.

Practice, Not Perfection

In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali reminds us that practice becomes steady through consistency, sincerity, and patience. Not intensity. Not perfection.

As the year begins, we return to the mat not to chase results, but to show up. Some days the practice feels strong. Other days it feels quiet, tender, or uncertain. All of it belongs.

Be well and do good work. This is enough for now.

This January, Seva is honored to support the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Throughout the month, a portion of all studio sales will be donated to NAMI, alongside in-studio contributions.

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, dedicated to building better lives for the millions of people affected by mental illness. What began around a kitchen table in 1979 has grown into a powerful national network providing education, advocacy, awareness, and support right here in our local communities.

We encourage you to follow and support our local affiliate, , and learn more about the important work they do in Bucks County.

Be well. Do good work.

Beginning Without Erasing

There will be no shortage of “New Year, New You” messages this month. At Seva, we believe something different. You are already whole, already worthy, already enough.

The Buddha taught that suffering often comes from grasping at what we think we should be, rather than meeting what is. January invites awareness, not reinvention. This is a time to notice your breath, your body, and your mind exactly as they are.

Seva is a place to reconnect, not to fix yourself but to listen. Be kind. Be gentle. Be generous. The practice begins right here.

Seva’s December Service Project Supporting No Kid Hungry

This December, Seva is proud to support No Kid Hungry in their vital mission to end childhood hunger in America. No Kid Hungry works tirelessly to ensure that every child gets the healthy food they need, three meals a day, 365 days a year, so they can grow up healthy, strong, and ready to thrive.

How you can help:

We will gratefully accept cash donations at the studio all month long. In addition, Seva will donate a portion of all December sales to No Kid Hungry, so every class you take, every purchase you make, helps fuel meals for kids in need.

Why it matters:
In the United States, too many children do not have reliable access to nutritious meals. Supporting No Kid Hungry is a direct way to help ensure no child goes hungry, especially during the holiday season, when a full plate can mean so much.

We hope you’ll join us in generosity this month.

Thank you for being part of our caring community.

Be well and do good work.
