We’re excited to introduce Eliza Angus, LPC as the newest therapist at Jones & Luther Counseling Center!

Eliza had experience working with children, adolescents and families, regarding family communication, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, behavioral concerns, depression and attachment. She has a unique background in Eco-Systematic Family Therapy and as well as being a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist.

The Engaged Conference: Equipping Across Professions has been approved for 5 NBCC continuing education credits!

While Engaged is not solely for professionals, we're excited to announce that we are offering 5 NBCC CE credits with no additional cost to the participants. Here is our updated fee structure for the conference on May 10th.

Registration with CE's: $75
Regular admission: $60
Prelicensed professionals, SMR members: $50
Student rate: $40
Lunch cost is additional.

In addition, we're offering a three day flash sale of $10 off the above prices from April 14th-April17th.

Over the years of doing this I've loved seeing the professional and personal connections made at this conference. It's one of the best parts of it! We want networking to be a strong component, so this isn't about Jones and Luther but about the broader community we are a part of which is all of you and each piece you represent. We need each other. We will have a networking table for cards and information from each person and presenter that comes so whatever you can bring to add to that so people can connect with you in the future. There are going to be books out, cards, pamphlets etc.

This group, The Work, is to invite you to engage with other professionals around the internal world of the therapist. This isn’t for clients or cases but for you! There are so many things that come up internally for the practitioner and there is often not the community or contemplative/reflective space in order to evaluate or understand it. There will be questions to consider, skills and scripts to use as we navigate the topics! You can join each week or by the topic that is needed to explore. Personal sharing is invited but never required!

Compassion says: “I know that pain too, how can I meet your needs.” It pursues instead of backing away.
Pity and sympathy say: “Not me.”

Have you ever truly thought about or studied the word “compassion”? Or thought through how it differs from sympathy, pity and empathy?

In order to show true compassion to others we have to learn to be comfortable trying to understand our own fear and pain first. We often think we’re showing compassion (by trying to fix or give advice) when we’re often engaging in pity or sympathy instead. It’s an easy mistake to make, but one that can hurt or harm another.

We’re excited to announce Daybreak- a six week virtual support group for those with loved ones with substance use addiction. The group will begin January 2025 and will be led by The Yardley Therapists counselor- Samantha Moore, MS.

Samantha holds experience in providing substance abuse counseling to individuals as well as family members in various stages of recovery in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
