Catherine A Jakubowitch, MD

Catherine A Jakubowitch, MD Psychiatrist retired from private practice, volunteers at Portland Community Free Clinic in Portland, ME

Permanently closed.
11/15/2025

Please note that my practice will be closing as of December 31, 2025, with the last day of patient appointments being December 17, 2025.

I have been privileged to serve my community as an outpatient psychiatrist for over 27 years, and the decision to transition to a new chapter was not taken lightly. I am deeply grateful to those who have entrusted me to serve as a guide on their healthcare journey. Through that shared journey, I have gained invaluable wisdom, insight, and self-awareness from hearing your stories, understanding your perspectives, and witnessing your courageous pursuit of personal goals. I extend my sincere gratitude for these gifts. I also appreciate the support of my colleagues, mentors, and friends and family throughout my career.

I will remain available, for transfer of records and related issues, by my office phone number for at least six months(June 2026) and indefinitely by my office email address.

Wishing you all full lives and peaceful hearts,
Catherine Jakubowitch, M.D.

It’s easy to focus on what we want rather than what we have but when we open our hearts to gratitude, we find we have exactly what we need.

Almost everything works better if you unplug it and then plug it back it in...including ourselves.

"Nothing's working." said Rabbit.
"Have you tried unplugging?" asked Bear.
"I don't plug in anywhere." said Rabbit.
"Yes you do." said Bear. "You're plugged into the world around you."
"Oh." said Rabbit, giving this some thought. "How do I unplug then?"
"Close your eyes, let your muscles relax and listen only to the sound of yourself breathing in and out." said Bear. "After a while, when you feel ready, plug back in, and try again."
