If you’ve ever wondered about heated yoga but felt hesitant to jump into a full “hot” class, our Heated Mixed Flow on Fridays at 9 AM is created for you.

This class is heated to the same cozy, warm temperature as our hot classes, but the pace and style are gentler and more spacious. It’s not a power class nor a fast vinyasa. It’s a mixed flow that allows you to breathe, settle into poses, and experience what a warm studio feels like without feeling overwhelmed.

This morning, a few students mentioned they usually avoid anything labeled “heated,” but were so happy they decided to try this one. They appreciated how the warmth helped them twist a little deeper, move more easily, and break a light sweat without feeling pushed. One student even said she came in worried about feeling nauseous or lightheaded, and left excited to return next week because the pace felt so supportive.

We also welcomed two new faces today, and both mentioned they felt comfortable and plan to come back. That’s the kind of space we aim to create here.

A few gentle reminders if you’re planning to attend:�
• Bring a water bottle. We have cold, filtered water in our water cooler, so you can refill it anytime.�
• A towel or two can be helpful if you’re concerned about slipping or sweating.�
• Feel free to take breaks whenever needed.�
• There are cooler spots in the room, and your teacher is happy to help you find a comfortable place.�
• We have Manduka studio mats and plenty of props available to borrow.

This class is led by Cullen Wilbanks, who also teaches our non-heated Mixed Flow on Wednesdays at 9 AM. At present, this Friday class is the only heated mixed flow in the schedule, serving as a welcoming bridge for those who want to explore warmth in a safe, steady, and encouraging manner.

We’re excited to announce that we now offer 11 am mixed flow yoga classes on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. These sessions are especially supportive for anyone who is new to yoga or returning after some time away.

If you’ve been curious but felt hesitant, unsure, or worried about whether you’ll “do it right,” please know that our studio is a gentle place to start. Our teachers guide at a relaxed, thoughtful pace, explain what’s happening as you go, and are always there to help you feel comfortable and supported. There’s no pressure to keep up or look a certain way. You’re welcome exactly as you are.

For first-time students, we also offer a two-week unlimited pass for $35 so you can explore different classes and teachers and find what feels best for you.

You don’t need to bring anything special. We have Manduka studio mats available to borrow at no cost, along with plenty of props to make your practice more accessible and comfortable. Just wear something comfortable, bring your water bottle, and arrive ready to move and breathe.

If yoga has been on your mind, this is a kind and friendly way to step into the space. We would truly love to welcome you and share a peaceful morning practice.

If you’re new to yoga, returning after some time away, or simply curious about what it’s like to practice at House of AUM, we recently shared a detailed welcome guide for new students. It explains what to expect before your first class, including which classes are beginner-friendly, when to arrive, what we provide at the studio, and how we support students in moving at their own pace. Our goal is to help people feel more prepared, supported, and at ease before they walk through the door. Yoga here isn’t about getting it right or keeping up. You’re always welcome to ask questions, take breaks, and listen to your body. If you know someone who has mentioned wanting to try yoga but feels unsure about where to start, feel free to share this with them.

Drop-in classes are $15, or you can try the studio with two weeks of unlimited classes for $35. We currently offer two classes daily, including a beginner-friendly mixed flow class at 11 AM on weekends.

Practice: Legs Up the Wall
In winter, we let the world come to us. Lie back and lift your legs up a wall, a couch, or a stack of pillows. Let your weight pour downward. Let your feet rest above your heart. This shape asks for nothing, no stretching or fixing. It drains the day from tired legs, soothes the nervous system, and invites deep rest.
Stay for a few quiet minutes.

Practice: Less doing, more being

Halfway to Solstice, we pause again. Today, rest comes from reducing input. Fewer screens. Fewer words. Fewer demands. Give yourself a short window, even just 20 minutes, where nothing is required of you. Sit. Stare out a window. Stretch on the floor. Let boredom be a teacher.

That’s what this season is for.

Check in with us every day for a breath work, pose, or tiny ritual suggestion designed to help you release the rush, remember your roots, and restore your inner architecture. By the time Winter Solstice arrives, you’ll feel the shift: less hustle, more holy pause.

Give yourself these 12 days. You deserve a softer season.

D A Y 1️⃣of The 12 Measures of Rest: Orient to the Light

The practice: Elongated Exhale Sun Breath (great for nervous system regulation).

Breathe with us:
1️⃣ Sit or stand facing a source of natural light: a window, sunrise, or even a warm lamp.
2️⃣ Root down through your seat or feet and lengthen your spine, like you’re growing a little taller toward the day.
3️⃣ Inhale through your nose for a slow 4 count. Imagine your ribs opening like curtains at morning, letting brightness in.
4️⃣ Exhale through your nose for a 6 count, slightly longer than the inhale. Let your shoulders and jaw soften as the breath leaves.
5️⃣ Continue for 8–12 rounds, keeping the breath smooth, steady, and quiet.

Allow each inhale to gather the day’s light, while visualizing each exhale dissolving yesterday’s tension.
