I used to think helping someone meant always being there, fixing things, softening their falls, and cleaning up their messes. I called it love. I called it loyalty.

But the truth is…
Sometimes, helping becomes enabling.
Sometimes, love becomes a cover for fear — fear of letting someone face their own consequences, or fear of losing them if we don’t always say “yes.”

I’ve made that mistake. I’ve stepped in too much. I’ve protected people when I should’ve stepped back.
And now I realize:
Rescuing someone who keeps making the same poor choices isn’t love. It’s enabling. And it doesn’t help them. It slowly breaks you.

I say this with no hate, no regret — just awareness.
From now on, I choose to love people in a way that helps them grow, not stay stuck.
That means boundaries.
That means honesty.
That means not saving someone from their own wake-up call.
