“I’m certain that beauty does not exist in your plastic surgeon’s office. It exists inside you.”
The older I get, the more I understand that beauty is not something another person can create for me. It’s something that reflects from within — from health, confidence, peace, vitality, and the way I care for myself.
Aesthetic medicine should never replace identity. It should simply help us stay connected to the version of ourselves we recognize and love.

“Beauty is intimately tied to health — the moment my health is ruined, my beauty exits my system fastest.”
One of the most important conversations I’ve had is understanding that beauty is never just about appearance. It’s a reflection of what’s happening internally — physically, emotionally, hormonally, and spiritually.

This conversation with Marina Buksov on The Holistic Pharmacy was one of the most honest discussions I’ve had about beauty, aging, health, and the emotional connection we have with ourselves through time. ✨

In these highlights, I share why beauty can never be “given” to you, why health and beauty are deeply intertwined, the difference between preserving beauty versus chasing it, and why true wellness always starts from within.

We also talk about chronic skin failure, preventative treatments, surgery, identity, longevity, and even my favorite “dish” to prepare — a personalized IV infusion designed to nourish the body from the inside out. 🤍

Thank you Marina for creating space for these deeper conversations.

One of my favorite “dishes” to prepare isn’t actually food — it’s a bag of beauty. ✨
In this clip from the podcast The Holistic Pharmacy with Marina Buksov, I talk about the IV infusion I prepare with antioxidants, high-dose vitamin C, glutathione, B vitamins, amino acids, magnesium, and liver support nutrients that help me feel energized, nourished, and supported through every phase of life.
To me, wellness is about giving the body what it truly needs — intentionally and consistently. 🤍

Beauty is hard to maintain during a pause… but preserving it is worth it.
In my conversation with Marina Buksov on The Holistic Pharmacy podcast, we talked about something I deeply believe: preserving beauty is very different from pursuing it.
I don’t believe beauty exists outside of you — I believe it already exists within you. The goal is not to chase a completely different version of yourself, but to stay connected to the version your mind, skin, and soul already recognize.
That’s why I’m not in favor of surgery as the first step toward beauty or aging gracefully. I believe chronic skin failure is best managed preventatively. Help your skin not fail in the first place. Preserve it before you feel disconnected from it.
Because the farther you move away from the version of yourself that once felt natural, the harder it becomes to reconnect to it.
You can fool other people into thinking you look beautiful. But if your own brain no longer recognizes you, you’ll feel that disconnect internally.
Cutting the skin doesn’t remove the mind attached to it.
Beauty, to me, is about maintaining harmony between how you look and how you feel inside — preserving the relationship between your skin, your identity, and your sense of self.

In this recent episode of Bathroom Diaries, I sat down with my colleague Dr. Robert Frankel to explore something that I believe is going to shape the next decade of anti-aging medicine—mitochondrial health.

Now, I often say that beauty is the tip of the iceberg. Underneath it lies something far more powerful: energy. And at the center of that energy… are your mitochondria.

These tiny structures inside your cells determine how well you age, how much energy you have, how your skin behaves, and even how your body handles inflammation and fat.

As we age, these mitochondria don’t just decline in number—they become inefficient. And when that happens, three things begin to occur quietly:

Energy production drops
Inflammation rises
Aging accelerates at a cellular level

This is where the conversation becomes fascinating.

Dr. Frankel introduced a mitochondrial peptide called MOTS-c, often described as “exercise in a bottle.” Not because it replaces exercise—but because it appears to activate some of the same metabolic pathways that exercise does.

In early studies, even when subjects were exposed to high-fat diets, MOTS-c seemed to:

Improve insulin sensitivity
Shift energy utilization toward muscle
Support fat metabolism
Enhance overall metabolic efficiency

What intrigued me most is that this peptide is not foreign to the body. It is naturally produced within your mitochondria, particularly during physical stress like exercise. It’s almost as if your body has its own built-in intelligence—sending signals to adapt, burn more efficiently, and survive better.

Now, let me be very clear—this is an evolving space.

At Juvanni, we don’t chase trends—we study them, question them, and understand where they fit into the larger picture of longevity and healthspan. This conversation with Dr. Frankel was exactly that: an exploration of what may become part of the future of medicine, not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Because at the end of the day, no peptide, no device, no treatment replaces the fundamentals:
movement, nourishment, hormonal balance, and cellular integrity.

But when science begins to uncover tools that may support the body’s own intelligence, it deserves our attention.

If you’re curious about where medicine is heading—and how we may one day manage aging at a cellular level—I invite you to listen to this episode.

Lots of love,
Dr. Sofia D.

During menopause, many women feel like their beauty is pausing along with their hormones.

But menopause is not a one-system pause.

These hormonal changes affect your skin, your bones, your muscles, and even your gut health. That’s why I always remind my patients: when we support the body correctly during menopause, we can also protect and preserve the skin in a very meaningful way.

Treatments like Botox, when used thoughtfully and in minimum effective doses, are not about chasing beauty or changing who you are. No doctor can make you beautiful.

Beauty is a genetic gift — it comes from your mother.

What I can do as your physician is help preserve your connection to that beauty by supporting your skin health as your body transitions through menopause.

That’s prevention.
That’s longevity medicine.
And that’s the right way to think about aesthetic care in midlife.

When people hear the word Botox, they often think it’s about changing how you look.
But that’s not how I practice medicine.
I think of Botox as medical-grade skincare—especially during menopause and post-menopause, when your skin needs more support to maintain circulation, tone, and structure.
In the right hands, Botox isn’t meant to alter your appearance. It’s meant to refresh you and reconnect you with a prior version of yourself.
When I use small, thoughtful microdoses, I’m not just relaxing muscles. I’m helping improve blood flow, support lymphatic drainage, and enhance the longevity of your skin in a very natural way.
This is about prevention. This is about restoration. And this is about keeping you looking like yourself—just healthier and more vibrant.
