May is ! 💬

In celebration, we recognize the incredible speech language pathologists from across our family of organizations who support our residents, students and patients with their speech, language and feeding abilities.

Using language-directed play, individualized therapies, sign language, augmentative and alternative communication devices and other innovative approaches, these dedicated professionals help our children and young adults strengthen their communication skills, build confidence and engage more fully with the world around them.

Thank you to our amazing SLPs for the expertise, compassion and creativity you bring to every interaction and every breakthrough - big or small. We are so grateful for all that you do!

We celebrated an exciting milestone for future young adult center in White Plains with a special Topping Off Celebration on Monday!

This construction tradition marks the moment when the final steel beam is placed. We’re now yet another step closer to opening this first ever home for young adults with complex medical needs.

This project is the convergence of vision, determination, partnership, advocacy, philanthropy and an extraordinary amount of hard work from countless people who believe deeply in what is possible for the extraordinary young people in our care.

We were honored to be joined by special guests Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, Director of FHA Finance for the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust Terrance Pearson and President of the Westchester Putnam Building and Construction Trades Council and Business Manager of Operating Engineers Local 137 Jeff Loughlin, as well as many members of our community including Board Members, project partners, generous donors, young adults and their families and staff from across our family of organizations.

Thank you to everyone who continues to champion this important mission - you are truly helping to transform lives!

What an incredible afternoon at annual luncheon last week!

We are deeply grateful to the many sponsors and friends who joined us at the New York Athletic Club Travers Island for a heartfelt celebration of hope.

Together, we raised an extraordinary $235,000 in critical support for our pioneering young adult center: a first of its kind home designed to ensure young adults living with medical complexity continue receiving the specialized care and opportunities they need and deserve.

Thank you to our Event Co-Chairs, Michele Caiola and Maura Gallucci, whose passion and leadership made our luncheon another smashing success, our featured guest speaker, Colonel Christina Fanitzi, for her personal reflections that touched everyone’s hearts and to all those who attended or supported the event from afar.

If you couldn't join us, there's still time to make a gift online! To donate, visit setonchildrens.org/donate-now.

On Friday, we hosted our annual Mission Awards ceremony to recognize team members who embody our Core Values of Respect, Adaptability, Compassion and Excellence and who view their work not just as a job, but as a true vocation of service and care.

This year, we were honored to celebrate with our sponsors, the Sisters of Charity, New York, as well as Assemblymember MaryJane Shimsky. Their presence made the occasion even more special!

We’re proud to recognize the 2026 Mission Award recipients from the Yonkers campus who consistently go above and beyond in their commitment to our children and young adults and bring passion and skill to everything they do:

🏆 Jokima O’Brien-Caines, CNA
Sr. Mary Kay Finneran, SC, Mission Award for CNA Excellence in Caregiving

🏆 Deena DeMarco, speech therapist

One of our residents, Maria, recently celebrated a very special milestone - attending her very first Girl Scouts meeting!

Maria had the opportunity to join her fellow Girl Scouts in circle, begin forming new friendships and experience the welcoming spirit of sisterhood that makes Girl Scouts so special. Her troopmates made her feel right at home with a warm Brownie welcome!

Living the Girl Scout Promise and Law, the troop also generously donated toys, books and other gifts for our children and young adults.

Many thanks to New Rochelle Girl Scout Troop #2447! Maria can’t wait for her next meeting!
