Today Colonial House, Inc. staff and clients came together to honor the memory of Mark Nixon; not in sorrow, but in gratitude. Gratitude for a life well lived, for a colleague deeply valued, and for a man whose impact continues to be felt throughout Colonial House.
Even now, his spirit continues to live on in the stories we share, the lessons we carry forward, and the work we do every day.
Mark passed away on January 17, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. Though his time with us was far too short, his influence was powerful and enduring. He showed us what courage looks like, what commitment means, and how recovery can transform not only one life, but many.
Today, we honor Mark by planting this Red Dragon Japanese Maple in his name. In Asian mythology, the red dragon bridges heaven and earth, symbolizing wisdom, strength, courage, and transformation—all qualities Mark embodied. The maple leaf brings balance, representing transition, maturity, and the natural cycle of life. Just as a falling maple leaf reminds us that nothing lasts forever, it also reminds us that there is beauty in every season and peace in embracing life’s rhythm.
As this tree takes root and grows, it will stand as a living symbol of Mark’s legacy—strong, balanced, and ever-changing, yet firmly grounded. Planting this tree allows Mark to continue to grow on with us, offering shade, beauty, and inspiration for years to come.
