In 1894, Richardson saw a problem with the way the bodies of dead people were buried. It was common at that time to simply bury bodies in small, shallow graves or to try to lower their caskets with ropes into a deeper hole. Unfortunately, this required several people to work in unison to ensure that the casket was lowered evenly. Failure to do so could cause the casket to slip out of one of the ropes and to be damaged from hitting the ground. On November 13, 1894, Richardson patented the casket lowering device which consisted of a series of pulleys and ropes or cloths which ensured uniformity in the lowering process. This invention was very significant at that time and is used in all cemeteries today.

Love and support this!! Thanks to Jack's Cafe!

Beginning November 1st, while the government is shut down, we believe no child in our community should go hungry, especially those who have recently lost their SNAP benefits.

If your family has been affected, please know this,
JackAss Cafรฉ will provide a free meal to any child who needs one. No questions asked. No forms. No judgment. Just walk in and say youโ€™re here for the Kids Meal Program and weโ€™ve got you.

We are all neighbors. We are all in this together.
And our children deserve full bellies and big dreams.

We do still have our Community Fridge located outside for anyone who needs items. It is donation based so whether itโ€™s full or not relies on donations made.

Update: we knew our community was amazing but WOW! The amount of people who want to help. While we have no clue how great the need is, we will make sure we donโ€™t run out of food and staff to fulfill orders. Tomorrow we will post a list of some of the items we will serve if folks want to help with food costs. For those of you who have asked if you could donate money, we set up a link to help with the costs.
