“Phoebe” is Phoebe-Rae Taylor, a 15-year-old with cerebral palsy, who hadn’t thought about an acting career.

“I never even knew I could be an actor until this came to me,” she says of Sealey’s film, “Out of My Mind.” Based on a best-selling young adult novel, the story shows what kind of barriers someone with a disability faces.

“Our country has just voted in an administration that does not believe in public education and openly mocks people with disabilities,” Sealey says. “That is very disheartening and scary…but I do hope that this film, in some way, is a drop in the bucket of getting people to be more open-minded, compassionate and empathetic when it comes to people with different physical abilities and varying learning styles.”
